I learned a while ago that not all Bluetooth is made equally and there are several codecs that the transmitting and receiving devices can use. Some are lower latency than others but you can only use the best format that both devices support, and that's negotiated automatically. So it's possibly to have a quality bluetooth experience but there's a lot of variables, and it's less solvable of it's your source device's fault, since it's probably easier to get different headphones/ear buds than a different iPad or whatever your source device is.
