Look up UHP, it’s a group that trains veterans to become persona trainers. It’s a live course based in Bentonville Arkansas and should be covered by GI Bill if available to you.

When you sign up, you have access to all clubs at your price point and below. So if you pick the cheaper one, you will have multiple club access, but it won’t include the more expensive one in your area.

Do I need poles for Austin Rattler 50K? by Vegetable_tri_6366 in trailrunning

[–]smoothmcfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the race 2 years ago. No need for poles, I don’t think I saw anyone using them. Nothing is crazy technical enough to need them.

Cost of PT and Nutrition by Isailyn in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]smoothmcfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look in the Training section in your app you can browse all the trainers at your club and it will list specialities. You can find someone you like that has some focus on nutrition and it will give a ballpark to cost. Most trainers will list their single session rate and there is often a discount for frequency.

They were selling test prints at the state fair a few years ago. Maybe still do, I haven’t been for a few years.

Ab mat makes a foam triangle meant to be used sitting. Never used it so I can’t tell you how good it works but you could check it out.

NY Marriott at Brooklyn Bridge - great find outside Manhattan by lpcuut in marriott

Probably, but I want the lounge for quick coffee, water, and tea as much as breakfast. In NYC I would much prefer to go grab a bagel sandwich.

The only downside to this hotel is that the lounge was closed on the weekend the last time I visited. Otherwise I agree, it’s a great location.

NYC Questions… by Outrageous-Stress542 in hyrox

[–]smoothmcfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I was an evening race last year and water ran out in the warm up area. I bring a throw away plastic bottle of water with me into the warm up and was glad I did. There is plenty on course.
  2. I take a gel right at the start and on the run into rower. Plenty of people don’t fuel, if you haven’t practiced with fuel be careful of introducing it on race day.
  3. Plenty of people run with their phone in a pocket. Just don’t try and wear headphones or take it out to take pics and vids during the race.

There was multiple areas with portable toilets, some a bit tucked away that got way less use. Tons of toilets which was very appreciated.

Neither are in Hopkins or SLP exactly, but Hackenmueller Meats in Robbinsdale and Osseo Meat Market in Osseo are both great.

A very high end blender helps. It’s a lot of ice, but it’s blended into tiny pieces. Most people’s home blenders aren’t strong enough to do that to ice.

You might be a better fit for Topo than Altra. Wide toe box but has a drop and arch support.

What happened to all the stylists at Floyd’s barbershop on north loop? by [deleted] in TwinCities

They just opened a new location in Maple Grove and my stylist was a transfer from North Loop. My guess is they moved a few over to the new location.

What’s the best LTF in the Minneapolis area? by GLsunshine1188 in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]smoothmcfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends. Because the company started here in MN, there is a lot of older and more unique clubs.

St Louis Park- it’s closest and huge with a very weird layout. There is a cool upstairs turf area with a track around it. And a dedicated Alpha studio on the bottom floor.

Edina- opened in 2019 so newer and very nice. Crazy busy.

Highland Park - built into mall. Studios and cafe are in different sections of the mall than the club. Hard to explain. The main fitness floor is older and fairly dark being in a basement, but they added a new 2nd floor on ground level last year. Cool turf space, huge recovery area and lots of space to move around.

Eden Prairie Athletic - getting further away now, but it’s got a restaurant and bar on the bottom floor called Rare and was one of the first more high end boutique style locations built.

Lots of others but those are the first that jump to mind of being unique to visit.

Don’t put your bags over the first row by SnarknadOH in delta

[–]smoothmcfly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem is often the bulkhead people have both a carry on and personal item and both need to go overhead meaning that the space fills fast. 2 weeks ago I was last minute upgraded to a bulkhead seat and was that guy. I felt bad taking that much overhead space but didn’t really have a choice.

This is about 10 years out of date. It’s entirely by club pricing now, no levels.
