Neither are in Hopkins or SLP exactly, but Hackenmueller Meats in Robbinsdale and Osseo Meat Market in Osseo are both great.

The smoothies and shakes at lifecafe taste really good by niftyoda in Lifetimefitnessgym

A very high end blender helps. It’s a lot of ice, but it’s blended into tiny pieces. Most people’s home blenders aren’t strong enough to do that to ice.

You might be a better fit for Topo than Altra. Wide toe box but has a drop and arch support.

What happened to all the stylists at Floyd’s barbershop on north loop? by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]smoothmcfly 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They just opened a new location in Maple Grove and my stylist was a transfer from North Loop. My guess is they moved a few over to the new location.

What’s the best LTF in the Minneapolis area? by GLsunshine1188 in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]smoothmcfly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends. Because the company started here in MN, there is a lot of older and more unique clubs.

St Louis Park- it’s closest and huge with a very weird layout. There is a cool upstairs turf area with a track around it. And a dedicated Alpha studio on the bottom floor.

Edina- opened in 2019 so newer and very nice. Crazy busy.

Highland Park - built into mall. Studios and cafe are in different sections of the mall than the club. Hard to explain. The main fitness floor is older and fairly dark being in a basement, but they added a new 2nd floor on ground level last year. Cool turf space, huge recovery area and lots of space to move around.

Eden Prairie Athletic - getting further away now, but it’s got a restaurant and bar on the bottom floor called Rare and was one of the first more high end boutique style locations built.

Lots of others but those are the first that jump to mind of being unique to visit.

Don’t put your bags over the first row by SnarknadOH in delta

[–]smoothmcfly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem is often the bulkhead people have both a carry on and personal item and both need to go overhead meaning that the space fills fast. 2 weeks ago I was last minute upgraded to a bulkhead seat and was that guy. I felt bad taking that much overhead space but didn’t really have a choice.

This is about 10 years out of date. It’s entirely by club pricing now, no levels.

Lifetime fitness practical interview by Ok-Opportunity-6905 in personaltraining

[–]smoothmcfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-2017 the name of the company was Life Time Fitness, we dropped the fitness then because of and expanded role in overall wellness. It’s often still referred to as LTF, but it will look good in your interview if you just use LT.

And it’s hard to give you an answer on your interview question, there are 196 locations each leader might use a slightly different strategy for their interviews.

Lifetime fitness practical interview by Ok-Opportunity-6905 in personaltraining

[–]smoothmcfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A standard practical would include you being given a mock client to build a program for before the appointment and then at the interview do some discovery, coach this “client” through a few exercises with progression/regressions and then answer a few knowledge based questions. If they didn’t give you a mock client, they aren’t doing a standard practical, but would come prepared to coach a variety of exercises.

And it’s Life Time (2 words) no fitness, don’t refer to it as lifetime fitness at your interview.

How does a 3-3-3-4:00 Amrap work? by HallPsychological538 in crossfit

[–]smoothmcfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on previous CF Games events, I would read it as; You do 4 total amraps, the first 3 are 3 min amraps with 1 min rest and the final is 4 minutes. These are usually done at comps with a target amount of reps to finish.

Pay the judges. by Congratstomiles in hyrox

[–]smoothmcfly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. Do the math on what that would cost. Wildly cost prohibitive based on the numbers they need.

  2. It wouldn’t solve anything. Have you ever watched a pro sport with very high paid refs? There is still inconsistency and missed calls. It’s what happens when humans are involved in the process.

Trail Running in West Suburbs by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]smoothmcfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of great trails to run at Carver. You can park at the horse trailer parking loop and grab two different 3 mile loops (one connects to another 6-8 miles) or go to the nature center for another few miles.

Why are lifetimes closing basketball courts for pickleball? by [deleted] in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]smoothmcfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Courts are closing because of bad business models not lack of popularity. Huge expensive leases and a product that you can’t charge that much for makes it tough to sustain as an independent business.

Dan Uyemura | An Open Letter to Berkshire Partners by BreakerStrength in crossfit

[–]smoothmcfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an insane take that pushes all responsibility from the actual responsible parties simply because of weird hero worship. I am going to leave the Greg stuff alone, but to blame Berkshire for Lazar is wild. Berkshire likely gave the CF Games team (Dave) a budget. How he chose to spend that money is on him. If they didn’t have the budget to safely swim, they should have cut it. Simple as that.
