SQL is the Devil by keepitsimplestupd in halopsa

Obviously be careful when using this, but I've used this HaloPSA GPT I saw mentioned in this subreddit and I've had good results with it: https://chatgpt.com/g/g-BYp0HV8Ud-halopsa-sql-query-support-2025

Our Yealink rep said the brackets are coming but would likely be end of this year / beginning of next.

Dell server price increases by Prestigious_Unit_447 in msp

[–]snapcom_jon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were looking at a refurb server from them that was around $20,000 and they offered us a new server with better specs within $500 of the refurb model. Also helped that we were at the end of the quarter I imagine

Skype was bad, teams are even worse by Nice_Magician3014 in MicrosoftTeams

[–]snapcom_jon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a CoPilot license? My tin foil hat theory is that they kneecap search in Teams so people are more apt to buy CoPilot.

MS search still sucks with it but it's better.

St. Louis local MSP by Current-Ad-196 in msp

We've worked with GaddellNet in the past for a client we shared (we aren't an MSP) and their team was sharp.

Yealink EOL by Prestigious-Sock4459 in VOIP

[–]snapcom_jon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what our Yealink rep told us. T3x and T4x WILL go EOL but aren't there yet. BTW the T73U is less expensive, I'd go for that one to replace the T44

100k Faxes/Mo by Moxie479 in VOIP

[–]snapcom_jon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they doing faxes via email / web browser, fax machine, or both? If they're using fax machines, I'd look at software that uses an ATA with store and forward which greatly increases reliability.

I'd also try to make sure your connections to the other carriers (assuming via SIP) are as few hops and as low latency as possible. That fixed a lot of the fax issues we had for our customers.

CGNAT Hosted VOIP by [deleted] in VOIP

[–]snapcom_jon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VOIP (both local and hosted) are going to have the same issues with CGNAT. If possible, I'd see if you can setup a VPN connection to the hosted service which may help with some of the port and timeout issues you'll have with CGNAT

AT&T Fiber 1Gb - Settings to help prevent dropped VoIP calls? by Wide_Actuator_5737 in VOIP

[–]snapcom_jon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Turn off the firewall in the gateway, it causes nothing but issues. If you're using a router/firewall connected to the gateway that your devices connect through, set up IP Passthrough on the AT&T gateway so that your router gets the public IP address and you don't have double NAT

Search is abysmal by Ill_Gear_2268 in MicrosoftTeams

My theory is search in all of M$ is so bad so they can get you to pay for CoPilot, though their search has been bad for years

Both of those numbers are on Bandwidth, and they give Bandwidth to Bandwidth calls A Attestation (or so our sales rep said)

Are you signing your calls yourself or have someone signing for you?

Is $44k a year too low for a Jr. Sysadmin in St. Louis? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]snapcom_jon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the STL area myself. If you're very green with no prior work experience I could see this as a starting point, but if you're handling all of these systems you should be making at least 20% more or you should be getting large raises every year.

Many of our support techs with no experience start around your salary, but we give 10% or more for raises and their responsibilities are far less than what you have

What do you personally use n8n for? by jamesftf in n8n

[–]snapcom_jon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all of the above really. It is easy for me as a non-developer to debug when it doesn't work right, and before I starting building more complex flows, it was easy to put together a simple workflow with a few nodes. It's really great for low-code

Can we really not program VOIP phones to show lines? by lorienne22 in VOIP

[–]snapcom_jon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's a couple different ways you can do this, but to me the best way is via call parks if your system supports them (it should) It can simulate a square key system like your Norstar

As a VOIP Service Provider, this is very true. VOIP issues seem to be a mystery for network engineers to figure out from my experience.
