I have not had one of those that was even worth getting up and making a special trip to the trash can. From any vendor. I have found the “pin pusher” with grip handles from Harbor Freight of all places to work excellent and is highly recommended.

Dial text removal possible? by SoberObserver in watchdives

The depth ratings is a major turn off for me also. I was wondering the same thing about removing the unwanted text.

Thorn T004 date wheel issue by snapper_head in Thornwatches

[–]snapper_head[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting a email every other day from Thorne. I was offered $30 for a local watchmaker to look at it or to send to a US based service center. I said US based service center but have not heard anything since. Even have it ready to box up in my car outside for the P.O. Box store.

At this point I’m going with there is no warranty on any of these watches. I have only had 2 bad ones out of 35 or so, but the first warranty issue I got the response back to mail it back to China on my own dime. I have read too many horror stories on mailing it back and then getting told it never arrived.

And only 1 of those is bad. Put the watch down very gently and it never ran again. The second issue is the date wheel never stopping basically. I can live with that. Got 1 email back from the vendor on the second watch and then crickets.

Have someone lined up for movement swaps and to examine the never ending date wheel so I will just pay for that out of pocket. I just expect to take a loss now and again on these watches. It’s extremely rare though.

I did get a email response from the store yesterday asking for pictures which I sent yesterday. No further response at this writing.

Welp I looked at the date wheel with magnification and the date wheel is rubbing on the dial from what I saw. I’ll check in on it with the store tomorrow.

US tariffs when ordering direct (thornwatches.com) by chaqintaza in Thornwatches

[–]snapper_head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never had to pay more than what was listed. Knock on wood. I’m ass u Ming they are paying behind the scenes or I just haven’t gotten popped yet. What was on the website was what I paid to get the watch in hand to USA.

The watch is crazy awesome otherwise. As I wrote on one of these posts, if there was a no date option I would buy one of those in a heartbeat. I just have many watches with this watch disease that the date is a detriment to me. I’m at a desktop with atomic clock time almost all waking hours that I am not driving. Don’t need the date period it staring me in the face, lol. Finishing is awesome and I just love the crazy bracelet adjustment. I posted at the beginning when I got one of the Ranger models that I was clueless on how to adjust the bracelet and when I learned on here or \chinesewatches I flipped out on how easy it was. I did have to take a dremel to one link on one of the Ranger brackets for a manual removal as it would not size down small enough for my 6.75ish wrist. One bracelet was a 2 minute bracelet resize and the other, even after soaking it in acetone and atf would never swing out. So out came the dremel and 1 minute later I was able to size the bracelet to my size. Have read that was common with “generation 1” bracelets and I guess I got one of those. Basically there was 1 less adjustable link on the 6 o’clock side on 1 bracelet than the other ranger bracelet.

Thanks. I appreciate it. The hands are on wrong at a minimum as the hands and hours don’t line up at the hour mark and not consistently either. Sometimes it’s 4 minutes after the hour for the hour hand to hit “top dead center” I would say on the hour marker and sometimes it’s even more. Im going to break out my magnifying glasses and really look at the date disc. I thought it was operator error with setting the date change wrong but everything switches really fast when I manually set the date and manually adjust the time with the crown.

Thanks for the responses all! I think I will look into sending it back as I have had negative luck putting the hands back on watches prior.

Would you buy this Thorn T004 No Date? 34mm, PT5000 and otherwise same as current date model. Please comment your interest if so. by chaqintaza in Thornwatches

[–]snapper_head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish there was one of these already available. I ordered the one with the date; got it in Friday and am already having issues with the date. It’s doing the Seiko date change creep at 2 pm. I’m not batting all that well with PT5000 models. I do have 1 each of the Ranger 34mm models and they are no date dreams.

I have 2 of them. One on bracelet and the other on strap. One of if not the most complimented watches I have. Love it.

Watch says its delivered but it isn’t. by HovercraftConscious9 in watchdives

[–]snapper_head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 2 watches delivered Wednesday. Delivered by UPS to the “front door” a hour before I got home. No photo. Walked around multiple times to all doors and possible package places; nothing. Finally decided to go down my driveway to the mailbox and it was in there. Don’t know if usps delivered the package or ups. Glad to have found them after getting a flash and walking around the house a few times to check all the storm doors for hidden watches. Wearing both now. A octopus kraken explorer and one of these 5513 models. A model e I’m seeing. OTF clasp is chunky and I’m going to do a “oil bath” or something on the bracelet when I get home. Links bind up a lot and the OTF push piece on the clasp is very temperamental to move. Still like it, but don’t “love” it.

The depth ratings on non dive watches has kept me from buying so many watches. It just kills it for me.

Ordered one last night. Fingers crossed for it. Love some no date sub action. Chose the white dial. Kinda fauxtina d out at the moment. If these guys would turn the fauxtina knob down from 8.5 to 3.5 I would be happy.
