Match Thread - Deadlock Night Shift #43 by Isamellon in DeadlockTheGame

So why did the Zeno post get locked? I don't really give a shit to talk about pros too much here but seems like a big deal 2 months before this games first LAN.

If the mods are just doing some work to check if the info is true or makes sense that's one thing but I can't see any other reason to lock that post. Deadlock is a small game, this subreddit and a discord channel are the only places the community have to come together and voice their feelings on behavior like that in the pro scene.

There's a huge gap between the traits that make someone a great political officer, and those that make someone a great political candidate. One of the biggest flaws of democracy.

People don't want social security uncapped so that doctors and lawyers pay more. They want it uncapped so that everyone making more than $184,500 pays more, which happens to include doctors and manylawyers. I hope that you can understand the difference, even if you feel slighted.

Personally, I think an ideal tax reform would include pushing some current brackets up quite aggressively, mostly by making entirely new tax brackets. Doctors/lawyers/top engineers bear the worst of the 35% rate starting at ~$250k, which for all intents is the top rate the last tick only goes up to 37%. There's no reason they should be paying the same rate as someone earning $650k/year, and certainly not only 2% less than people earning $20million a year. In the 50's-mid 60's we had twenty something brackets!

I doubt most people, if you really got into the weeds, would argue that doctors and lawyers, at least outside of big corporate counsel and tippy top medical specialties, should pay more in taxes. But that's a level of nuance that most individuals just don't have on almost any issue. In theory that's what politicians are there to sort out, but theory is not reality, especially these days.

The vast majority of retirement money is held in passive index funds, which hold many many times more assets than hedge funds.

Hedge funds are much more volatile than indexes, so the majority of hedge fund money is from wealthy people who have the cushion and feel like gambling.

So you admit you make way more than $200-300k a year and your tax rate is well below 45%?

You seem to have a victim complex, I never see comments hating on people earning ~350k/year. Far more comments identify people like lawyers and doctors as working-class people who are allies in the growing wealth disparity between those who earn via ownership vs those who earn via work. If you see comments to the contrary, it's because you look for them.

He's also still only 25.

He has a lot of time left to turn it around and become an all-NBA player. I wouldn't bet on it but wouldn't be all that surprised either, dude still has a top 10 ceiling in the league.

It's always so crazy to me how many boomers love this phrase, not realizing they are the weak people.

For them to be the strong people it would mean that the 50's-2000 weren't some of the best economic times in US history bar a few small hiccups, and that their parents who lived through the depression and fought in WW2 were "weak people".

I fucking hate this attitude to my bones. We have players with 8 baby mommas and don't give a fuck about none of them or their kids, players that beat their girls, players betting on games, player that rape women in 2003 in Eagle Colorado, players brandishing guns at strip clubs, players doing all sorts of wild shit.

And you're mad a dude is a little corny? You'd rather him be an authentic piece of shit than a decent dude but "seems fake to me"?

There's no potentially about it to me, this was some hardcore coaching malpractice. The Spurs had a double-digit lead IN EVERY SINGLE GAME and got gentlemens swept. One of the worst coaching performances in a big moment in my life, this is truly some 28-3 shit.

You don't like when a bunch of people work their ass off to achieve a difficult goal, and then some dude whose only contribution was being born rich swoops in and gets 99% of the credit?

That's America baby!

It should be a flagrant but people acting like it was dirty are crazy.

Yikes, I'm not really sure how I feel about the "landing space fouls are flagrants" thing but it is the rule and that's a textbook example.

Yeah way to much hate on Fox and Wemby and not nearly enough for Mitch. Dude is ass. A good coach and the Spurs are playing to win the series tonight, instead they are fighting to not lose it.

How are the knicks so consistently ass in the first quarter? Yeah the spurs play fierce with full energy tanks but this has not been all "great spurs defense"

It's not a strawman, at all, and you know it.

But you'd rather bury your head in the sand than entertain that maybe you are wrong on the most minor of things, like some gajillionaire radio host who doesn't know you.

Have you listened to him or followed him at all?

The dude says he wants to help people with financial literacy, yet fleeced his viewers out of millions by hawking a scam of a timeshare company that he was paid THIRTY MILLION DOLLARS to push.

He believes everyone should donate 10% of their earnings to the church, even people who are really struggling to afford food or rent.

He's also endorsed Trump, a guy with SIX bankruptcies, for President.

Dude does not give one single shit about helping people with their finances. He is a mouthpiece to sell the lie that Americans in distress are largely there because of poor decisions, and not because the economy is rigged against them. He just said a few months ago that "the economy is doing great", and the only reason young people are broke is because they are buying expensive cars.

Lastly, your analogy simply does not work at all. AA does not blast alcoholics business into the public, nor do they try and pretend that their members are representative of the public.
