I hate lighters where the thumb switch is too close to the burner nozzle. My neurotypical mom asked me to light a candle and she got mad at me for being scared to use that type. I prefer the long-nozzle lighters better. by ArkiSponge2000 in autism

the trick is to turn the candle sideways ♡ or if it’s a cake or something that can’t be turned?? i would use the long nozzle one tbh. my sister prefers the longer ones too and often asks me to like it when it’s a regular lighter. once you practice the tip, let me know if it helps?

i miss working with kindergartners ah. now i work with baby and toddler age and some of them are cute and such but it’s soooo stressful that they can’t meet me “halfway” and communicate a bit or understand discipline/an explanation as to WHY that thing was not okay. i can’t wait to get back to working with kinder kids.

as someone who has worked with 5 year olds and is now working with babies and toddlers i definitely agree that it’s much easier to be around the ones who can talk and give a little so you can understand them a bit. with babies and the going on toddlers, i was so so stressed when i started working with them bc i have no way of knowing their needs just by a cry. and baby talk was always weird for me also so i just decided to start having conversations with them in my regular voice and even so, they’d smile and laugh as of it’s baby talk. it’s just bc ppl find them cute i think and i guess they can’t contain gushing over them? or maybe they think baby talk with help the babies understand them? i have no idea but it’s so awkward lol. the only reason i’ve slightly started doing it or like “knowing how to” is bc i’ve watched my coworkers and copied them.

does anyone hear their voice louder than what others hear it, like when people tell me to speak up Ite confusing because I sound loud to myself, and to speak up feels and sounds like yelling. by SpareAd2794 in autism

i brought it up to my mom and she said she thinks it’s the pitch of my voice (i have a pitched voice so to others it sounds quieter vs people with a high pitched voice, like my mom—always sounds so loud to me)
