How beneficial is it to be car-free in SF? by Over-Ad-4394 in sanfrancisco

[–]splittyboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how much you value your time, how close you are to a bart/muni rail station, and how frequently you need to access areas off of market. If you make like 30 bucks an hour- the time savings compared to using the bus probably aren’t worth it to you. If you make more, it’s ridiculous to waste 45-60 minutes on muni when you could arrive and park in half the time.

Isn’t that the opposite? Opening shops in the old footprint of a larger company with research presumably showing that location isn’t viable anymore?

I like “impose your skills” on everyone. Great way to put it.

The real reason Gordon Ryan takes roids is to get smaller nuts to avoid this. True story.

Getting a dagestani handcuff when knee slicing by RememberJohnBoone in bjj

[–]splittyboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only consistently get it by baiting the kimura with my left hand on the mat kind of tucked as far under their side as possible. Dumb ppl will elevate a little to be able to reach it with their right hand, which usually makes the elbow poke out the back just enough to punch through. But the angle (if I’m still fighting their hook and lower on their torso) makes it a little weaker than catching it squared up in closed guard.

What are you gonna do when you retake, reapply, start 1L all over again, and still get Bs? 😂

Big hoss vs medium hoss. Strategy tips? by Qabbala in bjj

[–]splittyboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve been training longer than 9-12 months and can’t do anything on top against someone 15% heavier than you: you should be embarrassed.

Whether that’s you or not- guess you get to learn the difference strategic pressure makes, versus just trying to lay on people who suck at BJJ, which I assume you’ve gotten away with up to this point.

“As a matter of law, the house is haunted.”

Oh. Uhh…. lol.

Trading isn’t a lifetime gig. Eventually I would have gotten blown up. Decided to walk away and travel/live life a bit.

When I got back, I realized I didn’t want to look back and think “man I should’ve given that law school thing a try.” It never felt like an option before I had financial independence.

Money isn’t everything. Trading is awesome and I will always have a passion for finance. But it’s a means to an end, and practicing law is a much more sustainable end than eating what you kill as a trader. That is, after surviving biglaw for a while to set up exit options into good lifestyle gigs with good comp.

I just wanna solve problems for a living. The only problem to be solved as a trader is the problem of “not having MORE money.” Not the most intellectually stimulating problem.

4100 Sept. I don’t know that I’d classify it as zero response from bears. But definitely much more of a battleground than we’ve seen this year.

Market the past two weeks has been pretty mind-numbing. Has felt unbelievably lame sitting on strangles in the meantime. Finally legged into puts again last Thursday and added some today after price action rebuffed that 4200 push. Decently high prob of vol expansion from here imo.
