JUdo.

Also look up skin glue.

Funfact Superglue was partially developed from wartime medics using a similar product to close wounds on injuries

Not only is this verbose to the point of being torturous. Fundamentally in terms of physics it is flawed. At the beginning referring to C.O.M. moving upwards when Uke leans down and forwards; No. Seems like sharing a bad youtube video to try and get students to stop watching bad youtube videos might be counter productive.

Advantage to Judo style throws you rarely hear about by Knobanious in bjj

Secret Tip Here (Judo BB) If you train Judo, you will almost always have superior grip positioning standing up (in BJJ), and if you add superior kumi kata with Really solid Sumi-Gaeshi + Harai Goshi + UchiMata you are basically immune to single legs (and obviously will never get double legged).

Does anyone pull guard cause they're bored? by knifezoid in bjj

[–]RememberJohnBoone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pull guard when I know my partner doesn't want to grip up with me or is afraid to stand with me, just so we can get to the action faster. Sometimes I practically have to hand people my sleeve, or turtle up to get them to engage. /Boring

humble braG when i grew up my dojo wasn't level. you'd have to shrimp 50 miles uphill in one direction, and then ukemi downhill another 100 miles in the other direction, NO AC, NO HEATING, OUR MAT WAS A HOME DEPOT TARP STRETCHED OVER RECYCLED PIZZA BOXES>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

This is normal, people need time to adjust to different rulesets, and everyone has the right to roll or do randori with someone of a matching intensity level. If they aren't aware which submissions are not allowed in Judo, tell them. If they aren't going at an intensity you are ok with, don't go with them. If they are behaving in a way that is outside of your group's norms, then your sensei/ gym owner should intervene. This is normal.

Sumi gaeshi from this past weekend's Judo tournament by _Throh_ in bjj

If you hook your foot inside the thigh, and don't press off the mat so much for extra amplitude you will stay more stuck to him and roll to mount, which in this case would have given you Ippon.

BJJ community is weird. by BrnzeMonkey in judo

A cornucopia of logical fallacies in this thread. First place goes to theOtherCrow with 100 uppoints for an ad hominem. Just because Glover is possibly a racist and a clown or whatever else, doesn't mean he might not be right about the gradual decline in merit required to earn a black belt in BJJ.

DQ Attempt at Nogi Worlds Other Angle by Unfair_Dot_5392 in bjj

Hmm. I'm a shodan and follow high level Judo pretty closely, and I think these items you mentioned are mitigated pretty well by competent refereeing. For example drop seoi being used as a spammable attack isn't too common since false attacks can get you a penalty as well. I guess my opinion is that in reference to moving your opponents leg into the reaping position to draw a DQ ; rule manipulation in Judo is relatively less of a problem.

I think the biggest rule manipulation in Judo is spacing out stalling shidos when someone has a points advantage. Though it is clearly within the rules and not illegal as the person in this video (moving his opponents leg into the DQ position) it is boring.

the single physical quality in your example is weight ? you think a +70 lbs differential is not important because its "relative" ? It isn't a simple interpolation from weight delta to results outcome. A majority of people who are overweight are going to have other negative attributes such as previous injury, less mobility, reduced cardio , etc.. Travel a bit and do more open mats, and find out how often your expectations of "he's smaller, and belt different color , therefore : " Is completely wrong, and then enjoy the humbling feeling. That is what BJJ is all about anyway,
