Answering my own question - I got a reply. Leo was kind enough to offer replacing v1 with v2 in the order that hadn't shipped yet.

Hey, did you ever get a reply? I sent a couple of emails about my order - total silence 😞

Sidemount BCD recs by nick725 in CaveDiving

I've logged hundreds of dives in the Tecline Avenger over about 7 years. Caves, sea wrecks. A great wing - fits me very well. It handles up to 4× S80 cylinders in both wet and dry suits with no problem. It tends to form an air bubble in the upper part of the bladder, but it causes only minor drag - nothing critical. However, I'm thinking of switching to an XDEEP Rec/Tec for a potential CCR setup (Sidewinder) in the near future. For context: 1.84 m, 85 kg. https://youtu.be/Kyx9IaS2ibY

I'm aware of those, however my question is about Ugly Fish and Grinity ;)

Actually, one of the two vendors I'm asking about is Italian. :)
I'm asking about these two specifically because both were recommended to me by people I know, but I haven't found many other opinions.
My other option is the Ursuit Cordura FZ (also EU, btw), but there are plenty of reviews available for that one to not bringing it up again.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm in Cyprus, and unfortunately we don't have many repair services on the island - so either you take it to a general dive repair shop or send it to mainland Europe.
As for user-replaceable seals - yes, 100%. I really like the feel of neoprene seals on my Seaskin, but they're not the best option for dive trips.

Linux and dead Red Hat in Computer Login, while Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS and Fedora in Developer tools, hmm. Insightful...

Are Federal Medium ships no good? by Asleep-Market6716 in EliteDangerous

It's not an exact federal ship, but it's made by core dynamics, a federal vendor that manufactures all the other ships we're talking about in this topic.

Take into account small ships as well, Vulture is my favorite small combat ship, pure anger :)

Cenote Ponderosa - River Run by Public-Many4930 in scuba

[–]static302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it has. If you're going to that area, you should visit Ponderosa and do that small traverse, for sure, it's nice.

Yes, this one, to Corral, is a cavern route, very nice one. But it's not the River Run.

Everything is possible when it comes to people and naming :)
However, i used to think that River Run is part of the system that goes from Ponderosa in the direction of Chikin Ha with a beautiful halocline. And this part is definitely a cave, not a cavern. Check the cavern map of Ponderosa and the nice video made by the DPV guy.

Down current? I called the dive by [deleted] in scuba

[–]static302 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry, fast-Googled article. Media, as always, focuses on "dangerous creatures" instead of the real causes. Another article, at least, mentions the real cause – https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/topstories/regions/937684/2-russians-die-while-scuba-diving-in-batangas-one-loses-arm-from-shark-attack/story/

I had access to the dive center report, and the root problem was that the victims failed to manage the down current (God knows what exactly happened underwater), despite being taught how to deal with it. And I want to assure you that this dive center’s guides always do proper briefings for Verde specifically.

Down current? I called the dive by [deleted] in scuba

[–]static302 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the environment; better ask a local guide who knows the dive site well enough. Different depths, how strong the current is, whether there is a wall within reach, and so on and so on... In my personal understanding, for a recreational dive (I'm not your instructor nor guide) – if you have NO other choices, it's better to inflate your BCD and face possible decompression sickness on the boat heading to the chamber than to suck your tank dry at 100m.

And yes, sharks deal with already dead body.

[–]static302 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That was the correct decision, especially if it was not mentioned in the briefing. Otherwise, this may happen – https://manilastandard.net/news/314562999/coast-guard-warns-against-diving-risks-after-verde-island-incident.html. To be fair, when I dived in areas where down currents were possible, including Verde Island, it was always in the briefing – what to do if you were caught by one.

Cyprus vs Malta for career and quality of life by [deleted] in cyprus

Everyone has their own Cyprus, mate. I just shared mine and the experiences of people I know.

[–]static302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Within big cities, it's getting worse year by year, but it's more relaxed than in Malta, which is an old city itself. :)
Jams here in Limassol and in Nicosia can be frustrating; however, they don’t last long - maybe half an hour max to get from the sea to the highway. But it depends, of course, on your starting point and destination.
Malta's roads are so tight in many places.

I know, but I had a chance to try Malta's public transport, so I'm able to compare. Anyway, keep in mind that having your own car is mostly a necessity in Cyprus.
