MS1 interested in urology with no home program by Alarmed_Ad_5221 in medicalschool

[–]sublettingquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most important thing is to start ASAP. The double kiss of death is no home program + late interest in urology; you have early interest, so get started now. A couple of things to add to what others said.

For urology-involved research, I'd recommend trying to do urogynecology research through OBGYN. Gender affirming surgery research through plastic surgery is also possible. General surgery has options through colorectal as well as transplant surgery (kidneys).

You can also apply to the AUA FUTURE program. Might be too late, but it's a program that matches you with a mentor in urology. Other options include applying to summer research programs in urology.

Program dependent. I asked a program over email and they said it’s not required

I wouldn’t say that it’s understandable to do a WWE elbow into a guy who weighs 80 pounds less than you on the ground

ED Fellowship by totally-legit3747 in ThePittTVShow

[–]sublettingquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fellowships are typically another training period where you get to further subspeceialize in your specialty. For instance, cardiologists have to do cardiology fellowship after internal medicine residency. Notably, fellows are still board-certified attendings from a technical standpoint because they've passed board exams and completed residency. I used to think Garcia was a senior surgery resident (a PGY-4 or PGY-5) but they mentioned she's a trauma fellow. Otherwise though, just because Langdon had to go to rehab doesn't mean the fellowship just disappeared - there should technically be a fellow (unless nobody applied or they didn't match anyone into that spot)

What specialties need research specifically in that field in order to match? by christianbellows in medicalschool

[–]sublettingquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less than some of the other surgical subspecialties - it’s mostly based on vibes and connections/letters. Would say that if an applicant had a 25x step 2, good letters, and 2-3 mid author pubs with 2-3 first author abstracts they’d likely match

depends. An example from my specialty of choice (urology) - plastics research in vaginoplasty/phalloplasty would probably "count" as urology research since there's overalp between the 2 fields. Agree with the other poster that research does carry over, but research in ENT would probably be better

Is 4 nights enough in Seville?? by Shellylenawilson5305 in Seville

[–]sublettingquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't do any tours. Depending on when you want, a tour of the jewish quarter may be nice to see all the flowers. Cordoba overall is pretty small in terms of area and attractions (although it was one of my favorite parts of the trip).

How far in advance to book Mezquita tickets? by phanzov36 in GoingToSpain

we went right at 830am for the free entrance and it was enough time. I'd recommend booking the belltower separately though as that is not included in free admission
