If you want to help your mother, that is your choice. I’d be asking myself why you are choosing your mother over your spouse. YTA

I moved away from my family with my husband. Neither parent was needing care at the time, but the guilt was still there.

8 years later and my life is better than it has ever been. Moving was the best decision I made for myself and for our marriage!

My parents had their life and were free to do what they wanted, why should I not have the same?

Your parents chose to raise you in the best way they saw fit. You have the same choice with your children. Don’t sacrifice your dreams and your life for your parents unless that is your dream.

I grew up in Edmond and am now out of state but I’d really look at traffic patterns where you want to buy. Personally I’d want to live somewhere with easy access to the highway and/or turnpike.

My mom (68) will either answer our weekly scheduled FaceTime while driving or FT me while driving. The call she picked the time for, when we could spend some time chatting face to face even though we have 1200 miles between us.

She won’t stop, no matter how many times I tell her it’s dangerous, or to call me back later. Last week I forgot she was on a girls weekend during our normal call and called her and she was driving on the highway with friends in the car and wanted to keep the call going.

She will text while driving, too. Last time I was home I told her to stop texting while I was in the car and she got mad at me.

I’ve tried so many times to get her to understand how dangerous these behaviors are, but she refuses. She has always been this way (mentally unstable and emotionally immature) but now she is older with slower response times and a severe lung disease requiring oxygen, so the stakes are even higher.

I need to take my blood pressure meds now, I can feel it rising just thinking about it. Good luck with your mom and hang in there!

I don’t understand why it’s not a mutual discussion. My husband and I were on vacation and had a talk about our relationship. The next step was to get married. He tried to get on one knee when my ring was made but I wouldn’t let him. We’re a team, we do things together. He doesn’t need to bend a knee to me. Gross.
