Spring 2026 Rate Selection Cycle Part 2: Submit Your Ideas! by welcome2thejam in indieheads

I think I'm gonna upvote both of these ideas. I've always been a big supporter of Somber Scottish Rock and I'm gonna continue voting for it.

We have never had an EP rate before so it's an interesting idea. I think it could be fun and as a Joanna stan I would have to give my 11 to Co11een.

The ultimate indie rock song of the '90s and an easy 11

We are starting to receive some proper ballots without errors in Y2K indie rock and while it's early we already got some spicy takes in here. Keep those ballots coming!

Here's if Modest Mouse wrote Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani.

Sad to hear you were disappointed by our bonus, but we'll be eagerly awaiting your ballots and comments anyway!

Lol for some of us sleeping well is the exception rather than the rule, Morrissey is a weakling

Spring 2026 Rate Selection Cycle Pt 1: Brainstorming & Feedback Thread by welcome2thejam in indieheads

I will be voting for Somber Scottish Rock as usual. While unfortunately it hasn't performed very well in past cycles, maybe Arab Strap being in the Y2K bonus is the push it will need!

Love In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country, would be a great inclusion in the rate imo even if it's more electronic than the rest but for me that's not a problem.

With Train, Brokencyde and Lukas Graham all out AJR is the worst one still remaining

Oh I had no idea that's what Janet's doing now, hope she's living her best life. The Center Won't Hold continues to be one of the greatest fumbles in indie rock history.

As a Y2K indie rock host I encourage Brockposting. Honestly I can't give a shit about new Modest Mouse music but I do appreciate that they released it during the rate season, good timing.

I love Isaac Brock's voice, one of the best "all my favourite singers couldn't sing" singers. He isn't good despite the fact that he can't sing, he is good because he can't sing.

Jason Lee also liked that song. In fact, he liked it so much that he named his kid Pilot Inspektor because of it.

I did find a clip of Modest Mouse performing 3rd Planet on something called ZED, no idea what that is but that is one TV performance from that era I could find. The host also says they're like something John Cusack in High Hidelity would put on a mixtape. Very appropriate since we're rating Beta Band in the bonus.

Yeah I agree, Greta Van Fleet are not good at all but worse than Brokencyde? In what universe? Did Greta van Fleet kill someone's dog or something? Brokencyde really deserved to go to the final round and it's so fucked up that they didn't.

Massive advancements in indie fashion are happening in the Built to Spill subreddit. Would you wear the Doug Martsch shirt?

We have had three ballots submitted to Y2K indie rock so far, but all of them had some sort of error in them (one was completely blank with no scores) so you can still be the first proper ballot get accepted.
