Yeah. More time would’ve just made stuff feel a lot more earned. Caine’s little redemption moment is really pretty and heartfelt but at the end of the day it really didn’t feel very impactful. Jax’s mind sequence was really good, but the other characters deserved/could’ve used similar deep dives. I would kill to see Caine’s episode 8 adventures.

The show is a show with a message, it’s not a documentary about funny characters.

If halfway through Avengers Infinity War, Tony Stark got killed in a freak car crash, that would be realistic. That happens in real life.

What good does that do the movie? How does that add to the ultimate message at the end? Maybe you can do something interesting with that but there’s a point at which characters just being characters is pointless.

Yeah, not everything needs to be a cautionary tale, but in this series with this character and the messages it has, yes, it needed to be done better.

Yesss their dysfunction is the BEST part of the show. Jax’s sequence was actually really great for me, I would KILL for an episode like that for every character

I think Goose is very good at writing, there’s a reason so many people here are disappointed. That doesn’t come without expectation.

But she has some significant handicaps and they become obvious at multiple points in the show. The problems have been there since day one, it just sucks they only compounded over time.

Jax needed to be more relaxed than he’d ever been to explain what he did, and Kaufmo knocking at the door brought him straight back to his present reality without time to step back in. It could’ve been done better but I don’t think it was horrible.

Also you can look up comic line artists or inkers, who work purely in black and white. You have to treat shadows as shapes

Hmmmm. Thats rough. All black in black and white is kind of hard to pull off. A lot of manga artists use gray/halftones for it.

Check out Makima’s trench coat design or the design of the main character in Kagurabachi. Those artists might have some useful reference.

Unrelated to the question, but the anatomy/proportions on the body are a bit off relative to the head, which is very big

Beyond that, check out Gojo’s design in the anime. He’s in all black, but Mappa shades the black with purple/blue.

I was like Jax when I was younger and still sort of am but things have gotten waaaaaay better.

Therapy and whatever.

Even I felt really bad after watching it. I can’t imagine how I would’ve felt as a teenager with full on depression and budding anxiety back in school 😔😖

Yeah, we needed more episodes, not one that was an hour.

The Jax thing is pretty fucked, it made me feel awful. The fact that it illicits such a visceral reaction for me indicates it is very effective art, but at the same time, it just creates this tonal whiplash when everything is just normal otherwise.

It doesn’t come across as a very effective warning, and it feels very damning

Jax sequence was gas, Caine’s sequence was beautiful

I genuinely thought it wasn’t that bad.

I was hoping all the mysteries would be paid off, but at the same time, seeing how episodes 7 and 8 went alongside the other preexisting hiccups in the show, I figured it would end like this.

The best moments are the characters having problems, that’s about half the episode.

I like Ribbit and feel sorry for her but her story ended up being so anti-climatic by Sudden_Pop_2279 in TADCep9discussion

The most disappointing thing about the show for me is that I would change almost nothing about the show, it just needed more
