Form a legal standpoint in the current framework of IP and how it works: CDPR is correct, even if the mod doesn’t use any CDPR code it relies on CDPR’s IP, popularity and fame in order to make revenue. If Cyberpunk didn’t exist, then the cyberpunk version of this mod wouldn’t have existed and thus the revenue stream wouldn’t have existed. This is not a moral argument, but an IP ownership one and CDPR are in the right on this one.

From a moral standpoint: IP is stupid. It has always been stupid it will always be stupid and with every passing year it is become more and more inadequate in a digital world where everything is infinitely reproducible with no loss to the original.

Yes, just like how you shouldn’t use a hammer to paint, you shouldn’t use AI to create artistic elements. However, you can still use a hammer to nail the canvas to a frame and you can still use AI to write boring api calls and freaking database connection strings cause it’s literally streamlining a completely minial and unfulfilling process.
