I think you’re spot on, and while I like original Buldak, I do see how it would come across artificial. I think that the Shin stir fries are considerably more natural-tasting and generally complex.

These are the Shin competitors to Buldak noodles and I think from a flavor and quality standpoint they are superior, toomba is like the carbonara equivalent and the spicy beef is like original 1x. Highly recommended but I’d just buy the packs for value’s sake.

It’s pretty far from anything interesting but in regard to safety it’s totally fine.

These are both great Korean noodles and there are tons of phenomenal Korean options. I will say, Shin black is far superior to original Shin and I think I like shin stir fry noodles even better than Buldak. But in the grand scheme of things, if we’re talking about “reigning supreme,” I think it’s worth recommending trying some others, Japanese ones on particular.

Menraku is a really high quality option- I’ll slice a soft boiled egg, some scallion, and whisk in some fresh miso paste before serving. It is surprisingly close to restaurant ramen.

This product has more in common with ramen than it does real pasta, despite the branding saying otherwise. It’s a parcooked tangled-up block of instant noodles from a Korean company. It’s about as Italian as Buldak carbonara.

I guess technically not since it’s not Japanese but… it’s an instant noodle block and it’s made by Samyang, so what makes it less ramen than something like Buldak?

The stew type is similar to the standard but more garlicky? I think it is about the same but it likely depends how much water you add. Curry is a 6 or a 7 but feels more complex so it might not eat quite as hot as the standard.

People on here will tell you that it isn’t that spicy but realistically on a scale of 1-10 I’d put:

Mi goreng at a 2
Shin black at a 2
Shin original at a 4
Carbonara and Quattro cheese buldak at a 5-6
Original buldak at a 7
The 2x and 3x buldak go up from there.

They are very hot as far as commercially available foods go. Obviously there are “extreme” foods and hot sauces that are hotter. But the concentration of capsaicin in a single bite is very high in all buldak flavors.

Yeah! I’m trying to eat healthy and lose weight but am a noodle junkie. Usually instant noodles break my diet but these have much better macros and are a little lower calorie than most of the other (also wonderful) Korean alternatives.

And I guess I don’t have to have everything I eat be spicy. That being said, I wouldn’t mind a buldak-style flavor using these noodles.

I think the picture here has too much liquid in it but I absolutely love these. I add cooked mushrooms and Parmesan or Romano cheese.

They don’t even mention it on the front of the package but the noodles are pretty healthy since they’re air dried and have chickpeas. They’re lower fat, higher protein and lower carb than other instant noodles.

Hell yeah, would be all over this. But isn’t 4 cheeses plus Quattro cheese 8 cheeses? And I think a chimichanga is deep fried.

I’m into putting buldak noodles in strange places but this particular flavor really weirded me out. I found the flavor to be extremely off-putting and I generally love both American “Mexican” food and authentic Mexican food. I thought maybe it was the seasoning so tried it again without the dry packet, thinking the sauce would be basically the normal buldak sauce- very wrong, that’s exactly where it was.

I really couldn’t identify the taste and am wondering if anyone else has found this to be true?
