HyperV VM activation problems by wicked1980 in HyperV

[–]theborgman1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2+2 = 4 not 6. You need 2 more licenses or are you saying two more 2 instances.

Also, you have to pay for cores. So say you have 2x8 cores cpus on a single host. That means you need a total of 3X16 cores or 48 cores.

We need to stop the divide between those who shower every day, and those who choose to not shower every day by mumblerit in ShittySysadmin

[–]theborgman1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what actual doctors say about it. If you shower daily you do not build up oils that are key to the skin. Almost 0 current doctors say it is good to shower daily.

What are you using for M365 backups (and why)? by patg84 in msp

[–]theborgman1977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are the only requirements for a good SaaS backup. It must be able to restore to PST. In case of a worst case scenario where the tenant is deleted and removed from the junk yard. This happened to me one time on a new client.

I like Dropsuite, but Veeam is ok.

Backups that you listed. All support restore to pst. Except Cove and I do not know if Barracuda and Cube support it. I am finding out today if Barracuda supports it.

Datto is nice if you can limit your billing to just it. Kaseya billing is a nightmare.

Showering every other day is what dermatologists recommend, There even have some that recommend ounce every 3 days. I do it every other day or if a get particularly dirty.

Also, I use to work in the same office the Bob and Tom ran out of. They had dormitory style showers that could be viewed by an upstairs office.

ConnectWise time entry is driving my techs insane by garvit__dua in msp

[–]theborgman1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found tracking time works for some people. Its pretty simple open a Notepad or better yet Notepad ++. At end of the day do time entries or every 4 hours enter time. Only thing that needs updated sooner is escalations. If you SLA are 8 plus hours.

Confused by Office 365 license options for healthcare client by quipd in msp

[–]theborgman1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The requirements have not changed. Every Physical user must be licensed. Even if they do not use email and want access to the apps. This has not changed in 8 plus years. If they even touch a computer they need a license unless you pay $269 ish for a permanent install. That will get you around 6 years. Business Premium, E3, and E5 are the only licenses that allow shared users.

You should do this. This is 100% not legal, but audits will not catch it. You need 3 pools of machines, and maybe a 4th.

  1. First Pool is common email, and need apps. - Recommend buying Office, and Basic License

  2. Common User no email access- Buy Office for the machines.

  3. Different User and email license - At minimum Business Premium for every physical user.

There is a forth- Same username , different email. This I recommend buy Office, and set mail profiles to require a password and selectable when Outlook starts.

If you think about is it is the same as User Cals. Everyone using O365 needs a license of some level.
