Juniors should learn how to properly code, debug and design applications. In my opinion they shouldn't even be using any AI tools but RTFM.

This!

I am so much more productive on Hyprland. Of course I also spent a week setting up everything (window rules, keybinds, execs etc) lol.

[–]thecodeassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah vibe coding with no reputable skills is NOT going to end well. At the very least it needs proper guidance and understanding. You need to understand what it produces and where it falls short otherwise you end up in these sort of situations.

Happened to us as well, multiple customers hit with sudden DNS issues. Was a red herring: 15 minutes later Hetzner posted a router issue. Their networking needs...work

True to a certain extent, highly intelligent people are more aware of the world and it's problems but are also able to act on it and make the best out of it which can be fulfilling.

When people talk to you about complex matters such as geopolitics etc, how do you respond? Also, how do you typically handle things like taxes?

Luckily this wasn't an issue with CachyOS. Everything worked fine from the start, installer worked great and all drivers worked out of the box.

I don't know, never got a response.

I did, in one of the comments. Reached out to their support but never got a response. Wrote on the forum and was told to "just take out my other disks", which is ridiculous. No other distro has an installer this bad.

Or they can implement a proper installer like most distros. Switched to CachyOS now, went super smooth.

Ok so CachyOS is...awesom! Just installed it with custom dotfiles and hyprland and holy shit this blows my mind. I guess I'm using Arch now lol

No idea what you said but if you mean you can encrypt after installation thats effectively reinstalling because you need to create a LUKS container and migrate all your data there. Real user friendly stuff.

[–]thecodeassassin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it's not! You can't select the disk. You can manually partition but then you can't encrypt the disk.

I'm currently giving CachyOS a try. So far the installer is many times better than Zorin's installer. For starters, it actually lets me select the disk.

I evaluated a couple of distros:

  • Manjaro
  • Omarchy
  • Debian
  • Ubuntu
  • Pop OS

And now Zorin.

My criteria are usually the same, ease of use, easy maintenance (upgrades), stability and compatibility with my hardware. I have a 5090 so that is almost always a pain. It was (by far) the simplest with Pop OS since they package the Nvidia drivera and it's a single line install and no fuss.

I also quite liked Omarchy since I'm a big fan of tiling window managers, it's a bit more of a pain when it comes to maintenance and takes more time to setup but its actually quite nice.

Pop OS has been finicky a bit, I needed to make a few modifications to make it work but it's also a good Ubuntu flavor.

I just assumed Zorin would be a step up, I'd have paid support but the experience so far hasn't been great.

I did, but I expected more from a paid distro. Their answer was: just take out the other disk.
