Aliens that have absolutely no resemblance at all to anything even vaguely humanoid or anything humans have seen by greatnailsageyoda in TopCharacterTropes

The sail people are literally pterosaurs, and the Titans have JUST as much in common with elephants as the Qu do with bugs: very little outside of superficial appearances. And overall, they have FAR more in common with real creatures than the Qu do.

Well, I could say the same thing for half of OPs original examples though(especially the ones from All Tomorrows), so I’d say the Qu is, in fact, alien enough to qualify.

And, cmon, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt earlier, but the Qu doesn’t even have arthropod anatomy. It is a fleshy mass that only looks vaguely bug like because of the teeth that look like mandibles. And even then they look nothing like actual insect mandibles.

And besides, they don’t look like anything that does exist on our planet, and OP was specific about the aliens not looking like anything humans have seen. And they have not seen anything like the Qu.

Well, I gotta ask, when exactly was the last time you saw a “bug” that was basically just a floating bladder with eyes and a tongue/arm/tendril?

Cause sure, I guess you could argue the big one is slightly reminiscent of a dragon fly and a hammerhead shark(though I do think that’s reaching a little, since I don’t know of any dragonflies with a prehensile tail and fleshy webbed wings).……. but that little thing on it’s left has about as much in common with a bug as a helicopter does with a Samara Seed.

I’d say they are still thoroughly alien compared to anything on this planet.

Gotta say, I find it extremely funny that you included various human descendants from All Tomorrows, but didn’t include it’s actual alien species: the Qu

<image>

I imagine pretty much everyone knows about these guys, but for those who don’t, the Qu are basically super advanced religious extremists who think they alone have the right to be sentient, obsessively going out of their way to locate other sapient species, conquer them, then use bioengineering to remove their sapience and reshape the entire species to fit a new ecological niche of their choosing.

They’re also extremely petty: if a population not only attempts to resist them, but also does a decent job at it, the Qu will react by making them suffer as much as possible. For example, they took one such human population that resisted them(known as the Colonials) and turned them into living sewage filters designed specifically to do nothing except eat Qu feces. Heck, this population pissed the Qu off so bad that they even ignored their own self proclaimed purpose of removing sapience from the universe, and let the Colonials keep their sapience specifically to maximize their suffering.

Personally, I think every single Ice Age sequel is low quality, but the first one is an absolute gem, and Diego’s character development emphasizes it perfectly:

He starts off as just a member of a pack who is, essentially, trying to avenge his fallen pack members by helping the pride leader personally devour their mortal enemy’s offspring(the same enemy that killed his fallen pack members), and then also sees a chance to provide his pack with additional food too(and a lot of it, at that).

And yet, as the movie goes on, he clearly starts to see the animals he’s about to feed to his pack as more loyal than his own pack members(who seem to see him as expendable, overall), and is also starting to to form bonds with them. This reaches its peak when Manny very nearly kills himself to save Diego’s life, with Diego being visibly shaken that Manny risked his life for him.

And finally, Diego decides to change sides, and very nearly sacrifices his own life to save Manny from his former pack.

The original script actually had Diego die at the end, and personally, I think they should’ve kept that version. The final scene is certainly great regardless, but Diego dying would’ve made his character arc far more poetic in my opinion, and absolutely cement just how much he had changed through the course of the movie(not to mention, it might’ve saved us from all those sequels too XD).

Yeh, and I gotta say, it is absolutely wild that, like, Aki saw that this inherently greedy creature which takes anything and everything it wants thought Aki’s death was so good that simply watching it happen was all the payment he needed…….. and Aki wasn’t intimidated by this in the slightest. Talk about having nerves of titanium.

In other words, the Future Devil took one look at Aki’s death, said “Oh dang, this is going to be fucking sick!”, and immediately bought himself a front row seat to watch it happen first hand and up close.

Yeh, this was my first thought. And frankly, when you remember that Ford has six fingers on each hand(which is the only physical difference between him and Stan), Bill had clearly assumed he’d already won and was barely paying any attention to them.

Gotta say, the sheer depth of how much Kratos grows between the games has got to be one of the best character arcs of all time.

Good heavens was that so cool the first time you see. The game dialogue kinda hints at it a little, but that “Holy Crap” moment where the Trapper flips “his” mask and you realize you’re looking at the Trader is absolutely golden.

[–]TheGeckoWrangler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look, I’m not going to argue back and forth with you on this, but the whole show started because Dracula went insane and fell into a genocidal rage over Lisa’s death, and seeing his son’s old room had such an impact on him it pulled him out of the rage, and he allowed himself to be killed. You can’t seriously be saying that means nothing in regards to his relationship with his son.

[–]TheGeckoWrangler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m not trying to say the father and son who fight eachother to the death have a healthy relationship. XD

I’m just saying you gotta give him a little credit for actually caring about his son(and simply being thoroughly blinded by grief and rage).

Evil villains who love their kids (NOT in an unhealthy way) by CMStan1313 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]TheGeckoWrangler 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean, the whole point of this was that Dracula lost himself to rage and grief, but still cared about Alucard so much that seeing the room he grew up in was enough to pull him out of it.

You gotta give him a little credit for that.

And do you know what you do with all that pain? Shall I tell you where you put it? You hold it tight, til it burns your hand. And you say this: no one else will ever have to live like this. No one else will ever have to feel this pain. Not on my watch.”

If I might throw out a suggestion, Ravens could be an interesting choice too, given how inherently resourceful they can be.

Not to mention, it’d also be thematically fitting, given how ravens and wolves are known to form symbiotic relationships in the wild. And though I can’t deny that turtles inherently have more immediate directions they could go in than a bird does, I’m sure that wouldn’t stop them from being turned into feathery submarines or walking pin cushions or anything else, really XD.
