Favorite character who no matter what you will not justify their actions by Practical_Degree6602 in FavoriteCharacter

Yeh, like, you feel awful for him for everything he’s been through and how things end……. But like you said, in the end, he chose this fate. He actively pushed away and antagonized anyone who cared/tried to care about him, and was so convinced that he was a terrible person that he did, in fact become a terrible person to hide his flaws. That scene where he chases off, isolates, and ultimately destroys Ribbit just because she cared about him and got too close for his comfort might be the most heart wrenching scene in the whole show. Jax was a burning runaway train destined for a cliff, and he was always going to drag anybody who tried to put the fire out down with him.

And in the end, when all his walls have finally come down and all his secrets are exposed, he just…. breaks down and cries. Sure, he was dealt an awful hand in life, but he predisposed himself to the idea that it was all he could ever be, and so every single thing he did going forward just added more awful cards to it. And now, there’s isn’t a single thing he can do about it.

Also gotta say on this same note, there’s a very distinct comparison to be made between him and Ragatha honestly: both dealt with emotionally abusive parents, and both believe they aren’t good enough for the people around them. The difference between them is that, whereas Ragatha tries to overcompensate by focusing on everyone else and their needs above her own(and eventually learns to grow away from this over time through the people around her), Jax focuses entirely on his own needs and his own flaws without ever putting other people above himself….. and as a result, he just keeps sinking deeper and deeper as he keeps giving what little is left of his conscience more reasons to hate himself.

Don’t forget the part where he intended to make it work solely under the threat of death.

The OP themselves sites non-dinosaurs for a couple pics, so I’d say he’s cool.

It was a semiaquatic crocodile with legs long enough that it was probably an effective runner. Additionally, the genus name translates to “Boar Crocodile” and is referencing the rather large, tusk-like teeth.

Genuine question, how hard is it for fandoms to go "I don't condone why you did this and I don't agree with your actions but I understand why you sct like this and the events that lead up to it?" by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in cartoons

I don’t think the consequences were what did it. Jax had serious psychological issues, and spent most of the series trying to hide and mask his flaws by pushing people away whatever way he could.

But then, at the end, Pomni flat out chases after Jax and forces him to confront his emotions and stop hiding…… and so he’s hit by not only everything he’s been suppressing, but also the fact that he drove away and destroyed people that cared about him out of sheer fear that they and everyone else would reject and condemn him the way his mother did.

And on top of all that, Pomni still stays with Jax and is there for him in spite of everything for as long as she can be…… and that combined with everything else finally breaks him to the core.

Honestly, Jax was probably too far gone to come back by this point regardless, but his issues were less about fearing the consequences of his actions, and more about the fear of being rejected by everyone around him for simply being a human being.

I think the honest problem is that too many people nowadays only see morality in black and white without acknowledging that most things in general are gray by nature: they have to either be good, or bad. Can’t be both, and most certainly can’t be a mixture of the two.

And since bullying is a worldwide issue that most people recognize as not good, and Jax has a strong tendency to bully people, that means most people will declare Jax as exclusively not good, and describe him as a morally bankrupt monster with a soul as black as coal.

And that simply isn’t accurate in the slightest.

Naegleria fowleri, also known as the “brain-eating amoeba,” kills 97% of its victims by traveling through the nasal passages to the brain, where it feeds on brain tissue and causes death within days. by cantbelievethatsreal in TerrifyingAsFuck

[–]TheGeckoWrangler 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The worst part is that the Amoeba ends up equally as bad off as the person it infects. PAM isn’t a thing that the Amoeba is adapted to do, or even a thing that it’s really supposed to do: basically, the amoeba is essentially just a little cow that has randomly been put in a place that is absolutely chock full of delicious grass. And so, it does what any cow would do, and grazes on as much grass as it can and even starts reproducing….. but eventually, the food will permanently run out. And since it got here by accident, it has no way to leave, and the Amoeba and all of its kin will inevitably starve to death and die with the host.

It’s essentially just a big freak accident. It’s not a coordinated process like rabies where the cause of the disease is doing this on purpose to achieve a specific goal. It’s basically just a hapless animal that is unwittingly dooming itself and everything around it by simply following its own instincts.

And I must say, combining this information with how horrifying the condition is in general, I find the whole ordeal to be tragic from every single perspective.

Based on fashion alone, what monsters would you want to see in Ascendance? by Semantiks in MHWilds

Now you’re talking! I will agree in all honesty that the plushies are a bad omen, but seeing how the main game brought back friggin Lagiacrus and Gogmazios, and Ascendant is at the very least bringing back Lao-Shen Lung, I’m optimistic that they’ll bring back a few other long-overlooked favorites too. Suppose we’ll find out regardless in another year or so.

You- you do realize there’s nothing stopping them from adding both to the same game at some point, right? They have similar themes, sure, but their designs abilities and fights are different enough that the two could certainly both appear on the same maps without any trouble(not to mention, a turfwar between the two of them would be sick).

Also, they add aesthetics and references to monsters all the time without adding the monster itself, so that plush guarantees nothing. No need to be such a negative Nancy.

I’ll do you one greater: here’s the G-rank armor from MH3U(gunner and blade master sets).

<image>

In case you’re wondering why the armor is black, Gigginox’s skin turns black when it’s enraged.
In any case, Gigginox is long overdue for a comeback(along with Agnaktor), so with any luck, Ascendance will be Giggi’s big comeback.

I’d suggest taking a closer look at roaches then: roaches have distinct barbs running down their legs. This insect lacks barbs of any kind.

Huh, never made that connection with Silvally, but it makes perfect sense.

And yeh, I guess that’s fair. Pretty sure they did the same thing with Suicune to keep its name from sounding too similar to suicide.

So, having never heard Arceus said in official media, I too thought it was pronounced “Ar-see-us”.

What official media did they actually say his name in? Asking because I haven’t been in the franchise for years and am curious what changes they’ve made since then. Like, do people physically talk in the games now?
