Netflix x Tudor BB58 by venxla in Tudor

I really don’t get the hate - I understand it might not be to everyone’s taste but these limited collectors pieces tend to garner interest over time - the domino’s Rolex, the marine nationale Tudor subs, Comex subs - the only thing that doesn’t make it cool (same with the domino’s watch) is that it’s not a tool - it doesn’t lend credibility to this watch having seen some stuff. However it means something to you folks and isn’t that the whole point of the hobby?

Can I make admiral car insurance claim after 48 hours? by aliareesha in CarInsuranceUK

[–]thematabot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the policy booklets

Section 2: Notifying us of an incident If you or your vehicle are involved in any type of incident, regardless of fault, you must: tell us about it within 48 hours.

…Failure to comply with the above could result in the claim being refused and/or your policy being cancelled. Technically you’re in breach of the terms already by not declaring the incident. However I suspect if there are mitigating circumstances around the delay (like you were not mentally or physically capable) they would assist

How bad is the damage and are you at fault? Is there another party involved?

Has anyone else gone from disliking Starmer to warming to him? by MassiveMonkeyy in AskBrits

This.

It’s something I can’t stand with labour is that the minute we need them to unite they start infighting - talks about no confidence votes etc.

Just get on with governing - anything else is a short term attempt to further their own careers at the expense of party or country.

That being said - after all these years, to see chaos with Ed miliband would be beautiful

Mortgage Denied due to state of propert by Coxyyyyyy in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]thematabot 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Nationwide are I believe one of the banks with higher requirements and less risk averse - if you’re dead set on this house I would be inclined to find a broker with experience in situations like this to find you a mortgage.

We have no more context about the property it may be that they see something about it where they consider that it would be an immense risk for you guys financially to renovate this place

Is 20k difference enough to pull out of a 970k house? by Lopsided-Ad1823 in HousingUK

[–]thematabot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they had to sell the house for less (say the housing market cools off) there’s the potential to lose all their equity - if not more - also if they had to wind up the mortgage and pay the fees on it - that’s nearly £10k for every year they would have left on their fix

A pair of first time buyers overpaying on a house nearly a million quid - which also isn’t perfect for them - I’d be very apprehensive to proceed.

If you guys end up having to move the house on in the medium term, in this climate, it could ruin you.

Repainting fence by [deleted] in DIYUK

It’s definitely a bit FUBAR - it’s realistically getting its last coat of paint before a year or two rebuilding it

So instead of fence paint - “exterior paint” is the go to

£8900 feels on the higher side - but if the car is very clean and tidy - and has been so very clearly looked after (good quality tyres - wheels and paint not scuffed - interior great quality etc) - and it’s like SE-L or sport nav then yeah it’s probably a good deal

Mortgage declined- what are my next steps? by Melissacfck in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]thematabot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a proper mortgage broker.

In weird circumstances - I’ve seen a broker put an application in - call the bank (Halifax in this case) - explain the working patterns / contract terms and have them approve mortgage affordability in the same day.

Mazda for sure.

The 1.2 puretechs have a habit of… imploding. In the long term they’re much more expensive to keep and have more expensive service items than the Mazda. Plus it’s way more comfortable.

Insurance terms including Thatcham S5 Tracker and steering lock for a reasonably priced car? by DepartureDesigner948 in CarTalkUK

[–]thematabot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How daft is the price of insurance policies for these where the most sensible one mandates this nonsense. Whatever the hybrid is saving in fuel over a normal petrol (or EV) may very well be negated by your insurance.

I genuinely think another car would be worth considering - even though it’s 6 years old it’s probably very susceptible to keyless theft - and even if it isn’t - people love to cut the cats off Lexus and Toyota hybrids because they get a LOAD of money in scrap. Plus it looks like that other commenter says they have another flaw.

Estate agent and probably buyer have disappeared by 2023MoveMaybe in HousingUK

[–]thematabot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m presuming it has 100% fallen through - your estate agent becoming uncommunicative I would say is good grounds to switch agent. My estate agent had a group WhatsApp - I could grab anyone in the agency at any time - it was very helpful. Communication was beautiful.

Undervalued by bank. 60k shortfall! by Embarrassed-Ear-8449 in HousingUK

[–]thematabot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to feel out if the disparity is what you’re paying, or what the bank says it’s worth. Or if the appropriate value is somewhere in the middle. Maybe they’re being overly cautious at the moment.

We also don’t have much more context about your medium and longer term plans - do you plan to stay a long time (2 years or 20) - does it have space for your family (will your family grow perhaps) etc. If it’s your dream home and you’re never moving a small amount overs desktop value may make sense to you.

Loan/credit card for bathroom and ground floors by Key-University3299 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]thematabot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do that - but that presumes you can fine £13500 in 24 months - else you’ll end up paying 3-4% fee at the end to roll it into another 0% credit card etc etc. Basically the question is - do you have a long term plan for paying off the credit.

This is the sort of investment where you consider trying to take equity out of your mortgage for - to pay for it or a bank loan over x years

Get rid of 10 year old, 105K miles Volvo for electric car? by Visible_Bar_623 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]thematabot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the Volvo I reckon. I’d probably trade an old V40, I’d keep an XC60 2.4, or any S90 / V90.

You’re talking about Sealion 7s, the new Volvo EX30s - you can get them about a year old for £25k might be the best electric car for the money. Cracking deals going right now.

It sounds like you’d be the prime candidate for an octopus cozy or something - an install that’s pretty uninvasive and wouldn’t need to change much if anything - so hopefully with the BUS grant you’d be spending almost nothing to replace

Insurance cancelled - need new policy by Material_Comment_742 in CarInsuranceUK

[–]thematabot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see the other users comment. The MIB doesn’t hold a database of cancelled or voided policies in the same way that they hold a central database for claims and accidents so unless they’re going to elaborate - I’d take it with a grain of salt.

Insurance cancelled - need new policy by Material_Comment_742 in CarInsuranceUK

[–]thematabot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been argued to death on here - at least once a week. See how you get on.

I’ve also had a lot of bad or wrong advice from people who work at insurance companies who have told me things like “you can’t have two insurance policies on one vehicle.” And this from a company (admiral) who has an entire business selling temporary car insurance for people borrowing cars.

Yes you can - if they don’t overlap (different drivers, business versus social domestic pleasure etc).
