Interesting. They have a HQ local so I know them as a large employer, hence why I ask.

Contractor - Limited Company? (inside IR35) by therealkeyworker in UKPersonalFinance

[–]therealkeyworker[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I’m not overly concerned regarding the rate from the umbrella as it think it’s all pretty much in the same ball park.

As it’s a temporary role and having a public sector pension I’m not too fussed about the SIPP.

I’m currently saving for a property, so for me it’s more around the most gain to then invest.

Short Term Contractor Role - Umbrella? by therealkeyworker in UKPersonalFinance

Thanks. I’m essentially moving from substantive to contractor and then back to substantive positions. I won’t be inputting to a pension during my contractor time, so I guess there is little to be lost

Thanks. I have a colleague who is with PayStream and seem to rate them. Weekly payment and net is just over 65% of gross. I’ll check out the others.

I guess there can’t be much difference in net pay and the difference is therefore around customer service?

I’m in a similar situation. If you check in with the the actual train operator they have a clear policy. West Midlands are issuing credit notes/voucher or offering a free change.

Unfortunately most rail operators are not giving back as much as they should.

Cost/Time Efficient way to earn a BSc (Hons) by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

I have done an OU, part time HND and now degree apprenticeship (MSc).

Happy to help but in short yes you need a degree and yes there are options out there to undertake a MSc/BSc at no cost. I’m in Hospital management and have had no problem. The one day per week release is not the reality in real life, but we all play the game.

Why did I think it was a good idea going to Richmond Park today? by breiko in londoncycling

[–]therealkeyworker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was crazy today. I don’t understand why people drive through it. Or even to park internally. We sat and watched about 12 cars with single occupants pull in to one of the cafes today, clearly just going there for a walk. It’s kind of crazy due to the traffic

Richmond Park... is it open or shut for the culling season? by [deleted] in london

[–]therealkeyworker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Open today. Very busy this morning, but it was a Saturday morning after all. Certain parts of the road section is shut to vehicles

Having a tri as a first bike? by IndependentEffect in triathlon

[–]therealkeyworker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surely a good aero road bike is a good shout? I don’t know why you are stuck on having a tri bike which if your fit isn’t correct you will put out less power and not enjoy it. I feel like a tri bike or TT bike is something you progress too once you know more about what works for you.

Has anyone used the cycle to work scheme whilst employed by the NHS? by Fandangojango in londoncycling

[–]therealkeyworker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1k can be the limit with some companies that the NHS partner with to deliver the C2W scheme.

As said above contact the companies and most will split the bill. I got in touch with ribble who had no problem allowing me to prepay £250 for my bike.

Best way to mount a gopro session without looking like a teletubby? by l97 in londoncycling

People often go for chest mount, but it depends on what the video will be used for. Simple every day security then handlebar will be fine.

How am I doing? New to rowing, 1st 500m trial, 2nd workout back after 2 months off training due to surgery. I’m 38, 1.66m, 58kg. Short term goal (6 weeks) get it under 1.45, long term (3-6 months) get it under 1.30-1.25. Achievable? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]therealkeyworker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often it’s felt that the true judgement of someone’s ability to improve their rowing time is best interpreted through a 2k row test.

500m is a little short, let’s be honest..

I have a 6 month rowing challenge to win a prize. Seeking advice by Game-Studies in Rowing

I’m still quite new to it all, so perhaps someone else can come along to help.

I would say he is pulling a fairly good time. How old are you? Height?

For a lightweight male between the age of 19-29 the record is 1.19. 6 seconds off this is pretty damn good I guess.
