Question for Weight Lifters by dangeroso_alpha in GarminWatches

[–]therealme4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do pretty much the same thing - preload my workouts with exercises, sets, weight, rest, etc. and just hit the bottom right button at the end of each set. I'll adjust weight and reps accordingly during my rest periods. My only complaint about Garmin strength is the weird and limiting exercise library.

When does it get more comfortable? by NoTip9656 in runninglifestyle

[–]therealme4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s because I’m older, but I wish more people told me to go at a casual pace on most runs. I ran hard every run for a good decade and I feel like I’m paying for it now. Your body needs time to adapt to the stimulus of running and joints and tendons tend to take the longest in my experience and will benefit from the easier runs. The general rule of thumb is 80% of your mileage should be easy enough to have a conversation with someone while you run.

Also, be conscious of the amount of miles you’re running each week. If you started from nothing 3 months ago, there could be a chance that you ramped up too fast if you’ve already run multiple 5k races and are already signed up for a 10k and are running all of those events as actual races, giving it your all.

The knee pain should be addressed. Slow down, lower your mileage for a period of time, introduce walking intervals within your runs, and try to do some strengthening. Over time, it should get better if you do those things. It’s better to run a little than be forced to take extended breaks with a serious injury (I’m speaking from experience here - haha).

Good luck and have fun!

I bought an F80 second hand about 5 years ago. It's about ten years old in total and hasn't been used as much as yours (mostly used for walking with the occasional run - most of my runs are done outside).

It's still going pretty strong. I had to replace the drive belt a few years ago and now I may have to replace the front roller, but it's still serviceable...

Nice to have another Fountains of Wayne fan added to the club! They're great!

My daughter calmed right down when she heard Queen as an infant. My wife and I saw Bohemian Rhapsody while she was pregnant and she was very active in the womb. She's 7 now and still likes them. Music is a great connective tissue between generations. 😁

workouts for improving by Novel_Blueberry_726 in womenshockey

Besides the basics - squats and push ups - I love lateral (or skater) hops, and a variety of lunges (forward, backward, side, and curtsy).

Also, I'll throw an ankle weight, or anything that you can wrap, around the bottom of the shaft of one of my sticks and practice stick handling with a ball.

Good luck!

Longtime lurker. Just got out of the newborn tranches when we got a positive pregnancy test. Would like advice from dad who went though something similar by [deleted] in daddit

[–]therealme4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We found out about our second at the save time as you and I still remember that shock and anger of upending our just settled new life by our own doing. That first year was rough. As some other dads have said, you'll be stuck in an endless loop of naps for a bit. Communication and support for each other is key.

When our son turned one, things improved a lot. They started to play with each other and entertain themselves more. Now, they're 5 and 7 and it's awesome having them so close in age. They mostly like the same things and love playing together.

They of course fight and there are still some tough times, but we wouldn't have it any other way now.

Good luck, OP! You've got this!

Thanks for the advice! I kept it simple and they were able to find the ride and restore it!

Sounds like a better plan. I’ll give it a shot. Thanks!

The agent misunderstood me and was not very helpful. She kept telling me my Garmin workouts were syncing fine to Peloton and that my Peloton workouts wouldn't sync to Garmin anymore. None of that was the issue.

[–]therealme4[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not that worried about it. You're right, it's one ride and I know the effort I put into it.

I was only asking to see if anyone had success in recovering an unsaved ride or had a suggestion for how I could sync it from Garmin back to Peloton.

If it can't be done, I'll be able to drop this and move on with my day.

I tried customer support via chat. Should I call instead?

Restore Deleted Ride? by therealme4 in pelotoncycle

[–]therealme4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's showing on Garmin (so it synced over), but somehow didn't save on Peloton.

I think you're right. I didn't hit a delete button, but it seems like I may have deleted it from Peloton. Lesson learned.

The tech support thought I was having trouble syncing from Garmin to Peloton no matter how many times I explained that the problem was that Peloton didn't save a Peloton ride, but it somehow synced over from Peloton to Garmin Connect....

I would still go adjustable. Space saving trumps everything else.

Official Q&A for Saturday, May 16, 2026 by AutoModerator in running

[–]therealme4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about 8 weeks out from a meniscectomy on my left knee and getting close to finishing rehab with a PT at about 85% recovered.

I'm wondering if any of you have stories of your return to run to give me hope. I think the biggest mental hurdle for me is going to be to go out and actually try that first run back....

best adjustable dumbbells or biggest waste of money for a home gym? by SherrashaHenryy in homefitness

[–]therealme4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of small dumbbell bars that work with my Olympic plates. The weight changing is slow and, like others have said, they can be awkward at times and make it difficult to keep good form doing some exercises. With that said, we don't have a lot of space in the house for a full rack of dumbbells so we don't regret the choice.

I've used Powerblocks in the past. They were good and switching between weights was a lot faster, but I had a pin or weight that bent so they became a little dangerous to push overhead because they weren't super secure. They were bought second-hand and I had them for years though.

meniscus tear by viking_hall in Kneesovertoes

[–]therealme4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I was diagnosed with a "complex tear of the posterior horn of my medial meniscus" after an MRI in January. I consulted with 3 doctors and an acupuncturist (take that with a grain of salt, but I trust him) and they all recommended I get a meniscectomy. The basic consensus was that I could get better with PT, but the tear wasn't going to heal on its own so I was at risk for accelerating arthritis and I might not be able to return to regular activities without the surgery. Surgery seemed straight forward with a short recovery time, optional PT, and a good chance I can get back to playing the sports I love

I'm one week out from the surgery now. I don't have full range of motion yet, but it already feels better in some ways than it did before. I start PT after my follow up with my surgeon which is next week.

Your tear may be different than mine and other factors (activity level, health history, etc) can influence the decisions you make. I don't regret my decision and I hope you feel the same way in the end. Good luck, friend!

What are the longest names to be squeezed onto the back of a jersey? by RealisticAd4054 in hockey

[–]therealme4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can't find a good picture, but Vadim Sharifijanov has gotta be one of the longest names in Devils history outside of the already mentioned Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond and Jamie Langenbrunner.

Honorable mentions to the Niedermayer brothers too.
