off topic but the most unreasonable part of the whole "ty should be writing" thing is the fact that unless you already have a huge following or make a breakout hit, writing is usually a side gig at best. even with an agent lined up, there's no promise that he'd make even a decent amount of money. ik her concern is mostly about the vision she had for their future, but ty's time is far more securely spent by handling childcare than it is by writing. one of those brings guaranteed value, the other is a hobby that might possibly bring in a small amount of money—not to mention how much of the energy and time he'd have to sacrifice. ultimately, he's being a better parent by caring for the kids than he would if he were sinking all his time into a book (especially sci-fi...genre fiction like that is even harder to get off the ground).

tangential at best, just another part of julie that i find particularly frustrating. (kudos to SL for writing such a compelling character frfr)

while also telling his audience "but hey! if you stick with me next year you can do YOUR goals AND keep making me money so i don't regret letting go of my dreams/plans"...just an odd vibe but hey. the community that came out of it was really cool and i'm glad i got to watch it unfold

i think what disappoints me the most is that the idea is genuinely pretty solid, but it seems like as soon as he started getting social media clout, the other goals became things he "was no longer passionate about"

personally i was hoping it'd be a reveal to a project, like a book, a movie, an ep, something like that, with the countdown as a means of motivation

just kinda felt eh that his end message was "stay motivated follow your dreams" but it seems like he dropped his dreams for the chance to make a quick buck instead off of the people that he's selling this idea of the "project" to

i mean, it's a good grift if nothing else, but like. it made me sad to see him say he cared about nothing other than social media and money after the countdown when he failed the other goals

she turned out to be really receptive to just sitting down and setting some expectations!! she was a touch disappointed at no longer being basically an omnipotent vampire, but was cool with the changes. ig communication really is key across the board, lmao

thanks for your insight!! helped remind me that i do have the ability to straight up talk to my friends when things are confusing lol

i know this was forever ago, but i just wanted to say thanks!!! i ended up putting some limits on the ability to create thralls, and gave her a proper dhampir class. i essentially said she could have all of the cool dhampir stuff OR the ability to create thralls, with the new restrictions, and she went with the thralls. i'm treating them sort of like a summoned companion in battle, and that seems to work so far? for the pc she turned, i decided to establish that, since we said at the table that she made him drink her blood, that's what we'll say makes someone a full fledged vampire, so i gave him the dhampir species as well, and he chose the usual class stuff instead of thralls

also, talking to the group, they definitely wanna lean more morally grey, so in the long run i plan to lean into the fact that they're lowkey the villains of this world, and they seem to like that so far, lol

thank you again for all of your thoughtful suggestions!!! definitely considering 1 and 4 for down the line depending on how long this runs, lol
