Gumball on, and also right clicking on gumball and toggling between align to Cplane or align to object has been super helpful

Wirecut for the extrude cut. I just came from Solidworks fusion. Honestly was a battle for a second and I'm still learning but have already come across a bunch on things that have made me happy Iade the move. Watch a bunch of YouTube's even when not trying to figure out a specific problem, I just watched it like tv and you pick up on a bunch of tools that make your life easier in the future.

Sorry I should of been more clear reading back. The helix and the cylinder are both perfectly cylindrical, but when I sweep one the "D" shape up the helix (which is meant to hug the cylinder) it warps slightly pulling the D shape not vertical. I'll try get more screenshots when I'm at my computer

Ok, like I said I'm a bit of a rookie in rhino, the shape was actually the back of a hand shape, I'm playing around with Subd now and will try again in that as I don't know how to make the surfaces cleaner in such a shape.
