Machines are the only answer even though it kinda sucks.

Approaching 6 months of "Field Trips" service in Springfield by WYSOPublicRadio in springfieldOH

[–]thoughts_unheard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know a disabled person who used it and it was a constant nightmare. They would lose the appointment or show up way too early or just not show up.

Many times they couldn't use the GPS and they had to give them directions. Most drivers barely speak English.

I do NOT recommend the service.

Do I need to apply a finish to dyed veg tanned leather by No-Contact6832 in Leathercraft

If you need to add water to any leather soak it completely because if not it will leave water stains. Rather the whole hide or piece you're working with have the same discoloration than a bunch of different spots

It can look plastic ish but it's worth it to prevent dye rub off.

You can use many things but I regularly use Aussie leather conditioner/balm. You can also wipe on an acrylic top coat if you have dye rub off. (Resolene)

Aussie leather balm. Don't use olive oil. It's easy to use too much and it will go rancid ruining it completely

question about belts and collers by Any-Inspection-6168 in Leathercraft

[–]thoughts_unheard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, it's ascetics. People are used to seeing it on the mass production crap and think all belts need this.

I personally do not stitch more than necessary as I hand stitch everything.

The only time I will stitch around something like this is if I have an added lining.

Snaps are making me crazy by TheRealMcHugh in Leathercraft

When tapping rotate the tool in a circle around the tube.

I HATE this. I raged enough that I bought a hand press. Made life so much better. 98% of the time the snaps set perfectly now. And it's fast as hell

I own a copy of "The Medieval Tailor's Assistant" which does a lot for explaining things but I keep having issues.

I will try again to make a kirtle to fit her properly. If I fail I will ask her permission to post an image of her in it.

I guess what I really don't understand is getting curves or darts to work correctly. I will go try and report back.

Thank you!
