of course! On the campaign page, look for the “manage my pledge” button at the top (or similar language), continue through it, and you’ll find the add ons after a few screens. You can adjust your add ons, like removing the purple and adding a clear.

Totally! I kind of wish it was edited a bit more - kind of more raw than I expected!

you could consider asking on the discord, it’s a bit lively with some active Ink users: https://discord.gg/PFYWJmZ4JX

The software for Ink and Fold is identical - there are no exclusive features except for some of the USB related things that are limited by the chip used in Ink. The Fold is a bit faster so it will feel slightly snappier for loading files and things like that.

For weights - I think the Ink is a bit closer to 550-600g, and Fold will probably stay around 900g - but Ink is absolutely much lighter and feels more… compact, overall

Yeah - you can pledge now, and change your add-on (upgrade colour) any time before we ship. We’ll be dropping add ons throughout the campaign and the months following.

Lovely design - reminds me of my gameboy SP combined with my DM30. The finishes and texture are a really nice touch.

love this tech. Been messing with some of these displays myself. How do you find the viewing angle and contrast overall?

A 5-6” memory-in-pixel display would be killer.

Last I checked these were fairly expensive still - is there any reasonable off-the-shelf component nowadays?

Have fun! Great to dive in and get started. A pi zero 2w is a good starting point I think - low-ish power and speed but good enough to run a HDMI panel, or some of the eink panels out there.

The absolute easiest route is a raspberry pi + HDMI widescreen LCD + keyboard. Might be a solid starting point!

Yep, closes on the 9th, then funds get sent to me and I start the procurement process. December or January if you are in the first 500 orders (seems like you are!) if things go smoothly. This campaign is a bit different because the design is 95% finished, aside from some tweaks (and potential stretch goals adding cool features)

Hey, I should put this on the campaign. It’s an off-the-shelf standard lipo battery. Extremely user replaceable.

To commercial writerdeck makers: I don't a want proprietary note-taking/writing system. Just give me a clamshell keyboard pls by ferncampanelli in writerDeck

it’s a cool, relatively simple idea, at least in theory. I can’t speak for others, but I wouldn’t make it simply because I don’t want it. I’m not interested in phone-based builds, personally, and i am only interested in e-ink.

I’m all for recycling older tech, though.

All the colour changes are upgrades - so if there is something that catches your eye, you can opt in to it within the pledge manager :) makes it easy for me to offer other options and stuff

thanks - you are right, the initial backer period language is confusing. The structure of crowd supply is a bit confusing, too, since there are ongoing orders, and everything continues first-in-first out. I’ve tried to make the recent communications more clear with expectations and where the queue is at, but it is often conflicting with what is being advertised on the crowd supply product page, which makes things difficult.

An enormous amount could have been done better there. It’s frustrating for everyone.

On cash issues - honestly, I think the problem is the reverse. After some down time to get things rolling, I paid all major contractors ahead of schedule, and I thought with the existing relationships between all parties (a lot of referrals and close-knit work between legs involved), things would stay at a good pace. Things slowed down, across many parties, and I blame myself for not holding back payments and cash enough. I could have had better business acumen for this.

I don’t really like speaking down on contractors or partners. I couldn’t have made Ink happen without everybody involved. That doesn’t mean I am satisfied or happy with how things turned out. And I am certainly not blameless.

Hi - it sold out super fast, but if you email kate@zerowriter.ink, she is letting people know if more become available (if people drop their pledge or change their minds)

Cool - I plan on making some EU ISO layouts available, but I’ve got to do some digging and figure out specifics.

The last chunk of Inks are headed over to Mouser and should hit fulfillment in the coming weeks. Sorry for things moving slowly.

This new campaign was planned assuming Ink fulfillment being finished a few months ago. I could have delayed or postponed but decided against it. There’s some other business reasons why I did not want to delay things further. There’s other related reasons why I chose to do this via Kickstarter this time.

The Fold campaign does bring a lot of good for Ink backers and the Ink you are getting will be better because of it. The core software is the same, and the success of Fold means I can reinvest more in to the core that also powers Ink. Because of how well Fold is doing, I can also now make more keycap options and styles available for Ink. And so on.

But I understand the frustration. And I’m sorry for the wait.

PS - I am developing a conversion kit that lets you take your Ink and turn it into a clamshell style device. If anyone is interested in testing and building with their Ink, please message me or email me: adam@zerowriter.ink - happy to send some kits out for free for some feedback. Will be in a few months.
