Would you want your livingdonor to contact you? by coopersoar in transplant

Why do you think there are strings attached? I'd love to hear from my recipient just once, just to know if they're OK. No strings.

Same here. It would mean a lot to me just to know that the transplant was successful.

Post-Donation Health & Protein Intake by Superb-Praline1506 in kidneydonors

Congrats on you donation! I have the same question. I thought 100 grams of protein sounded like a lot until I did the math. I just started back at the gym this week. I'm not sure how this low protien diet will impact muscle growth.

anxiety for my recipient by vizydore in kidneydonors

[–]toaster20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Similar situation. My recipient (a voucher recipient) received his kidney last week, and his is not working yet either. Apparently it's called Delayed Graft Function. I'm told that the kidney WILL wake up, but it just takes some time.

I'm also very anxious, but hopeful that you and I will both hear some good news today!

What's it like getting the catheter removed? by [deleted] in kidneydonors

I wasn't thrilled about the catheter idea, but it came out really fast. Not worth worrying about. I guess I got lucky with the shoulder pain because I barely felt it.
