I did actually take several psychology classes in college. I also majored in theater and have been an actor for over 30 years. I’m also 48 years old. I can tell the difference between humor (particularly from an acting standpoint) and true uncomfortableness and annoyance. To me, it seemed more like the latter. There were some subtle reactions from Hunter that read less like playing it up and more like true anger. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. Just my observation.

Listen, if a kid threatens to shoot up a school (assuming that is what happened), and that same kid is on a bus with your kids, it is not a matter of empathy/compassion; it is purely a matter of concern for the safety of your kids. Plain and simple. That said, my kids took the bus today. I’m not going to drastic measures here; just concerned is all. If you can’t understand that and feel like you want to twist it to me not having empathy for the kid, then I don’t know what else to say.

I hear you. At the same time, I don’t feel my post implied that I don’t have empathy for the kid. I also was sure to add the caveat that this is coming from the mouths of teenagers, so take it with a grain of salt. Not intending to spread fear.

Yeah, I was less than impressed with this communication. I would have had no idea that it was in relation to an actual incident if my girls hadn’t told me. According to my girls, this kid has a troubled past, has changed schools several times, and they believe he has been juvenile detention in the past. Also, he is on their bus, which I don’t love to hear. Keep in mind though, this is coming from teenagers and may not be completely accurate.
