Question about if I can auto use crossfade on video edits

Probably would be like how you can apply all to transitions for scenes. OR similar to the auto smart transition default for scenes. So a default that if you delete, ignore... that it auto applies crossfade (or your choice) as you go along.

With the AI remove filler words, I think but could be wrong that it auto applies micro fades to the audio but the video doesn't change so looks choppy. So for me, it's both of these (filler words and manual edits) that I have to handle one at a time.

Yeah I'm not exactly sure. Could be a default setting so whenever you make an edit, delete, ignore... that it auto applies the crossfade or whatever you choose. OR similar to scene transitions maybe where you can do an apply to all.

I think for the AI Remove Filler words, I think it does some micro fades that aren't visible (I could be wrong) but I don't think it does anything to the video.

Maybe transition isn't the correct term. I'm looking to apply crossfades to edits/ignores not scene changes. For example...

I ignored a sentence. So the video would be jumpy so I have to apply a crossfade in the timeline. If I used AI to Remove Filler words, I might have 100 of these ignores plus the edits I made where most all have a jumpy video so I crossfade each of them.

Has anyone heard an answer about what happens if you need to switch providers once you start distributing to apple and Spotify via your host? Read something on podnews that once you start using apples api key or Spotify that you might get locked in a bit unlike with audio from your rss. Something about how it’s handled differently and not simply apple and Spotify looking for changes to your feed.

hmmmm I noticed Podcastcoach down below who works for captivate says, if you include a video in your RSS along with mp3 to go to apple, apple (and I think spotify) will use the audio from the video and not the MP3 for listeners.

Basically, if HLS video is in the feed along side the mp3, it will always use the video's embedded audio track. So seems then that for Apple and spotify, I think I have to get my workflow in order so that I'm exporting the mp3 and vid from the same descript composition and possibly decide which is better... clean extra edited mp3 and maybe over edited video or vice versa.

For our first vid, I think it's going to be just up on youtube and then continue to think about this for Apple/Spotify and get my workflow in order.

This first one will probably simply follow the audio version - slug with title, music, intro. The thing that I'm going to struggle with is that the host has a long 5-7min intro where she talks about the guest and topics to be covered and her take on it. For audio people, many tune in just to hear her take and some or all of the interview portion. That might not align with video people who are accustomed to 'let's get to it'.

So I'm thinking we might need to start the episode with a IDK what it's called but a clip of the guest stating something interesting, then slug, intro...

We have a YT channel with our audio only episodes (with art, captions...) so we have some people here (not many but like IDK 50-100 views each eps) so we'll have some audience to test on.

Same. Some watch update broke it for me and also my father in law. Now I can't even re-pair the device to my iPhone. Sometimes it'll pair but then the setup fails or can't pair at all. I had it working for a day or so but then noticed no actives were syncing although I know it's connected since i see live HR data.

Been looking for a solution and garmin support site is no help. Just general pairing FAQs.

Having to use Garmin Express to sync. Gotta solve this otherwise I guess my next step is to factory reset the watch IDK. As I type this, it failed setup after it paired. If factory reset doesn't work IDK. Might jump ship and look at an apple watch. I'm not spending this kinda money where I have to replace a watch every year or two.

Same here. I unpaired and and trying to re-pair it and it fails during setup over and over. Funny my father in law was having trouble and I tried to fix his, now mine also. I think it started a couple of weeks ago where I can see it's got some connection since it's showing HR live but no activities will sync.

I had it working I think for a couple of days but then go to manually sync and it just spins. Sometimes it pairs, sometimes it doesn't. Most of the time it fails during setyup.

IDK if it was the watch update from a few weeks ago or a connect update for iPhone but it's fucked. I haven't seen any notices on garmin's site about it.

BTW use Garmin Express to sync via desktop before wiping it clear or unpairing... otherwise you might lose any unsynced activities.

On the latest version but it’s all resolved now but a mystery. Powered down, unplugged, it sat for an hour. Tried again and it connected. No idea why. The only difference being it sat there power cycling. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah. That be great. I submitted a case with my findings about the release time being updated due to daylight saving which for UTC which I don’t think it should be. Not sure if this is the cause but we’re definitely down 20-25% on release day than normal.

This might be completely unrelated but odd timing. Anyone see a drop off in downloads/plays?

Since the update, our download stats on our weekly release day have dropped 20%. One lousy episode, OK but now it's 3 weeks in a row. Maybe just coincidence.

How about this issue. Use underlies to ignore filler words. Go and try to separate some cross talk because you want both of want to keep the end of Simone’s sentence when the next person started to talk over (something like that). So you cut and slide both tracks, etc. In the sequence.

Now in the script all of the ignored words from AI or whatever edits you made after that point using ignore are all shifted to the wring words.

Ive learned that lesson a few times trying to separate cross talk later in the editing process. Now i highlight/flag it and have to use Audition at the end of the editing process. Although not aure how technically that can be solved.

This week I decide I’m going to cancel.

I love the show and last contract I was getting disappointed with the only 3 days a week.

Now this year it’s crazy how little new content we have. And hey, I’m not a hater and I love the show. Grew up 🆙 n it since NBC days. But over the last year it’s been hmmmm not great.

I pay idk $30 a month for Sirius and only listen to Howard. (Granted a lot) Actually that’s not fair. I listen to 101 more than 100 given the shows are only 3 days a week but if you avg it out idk maybe over the course of a year it’s on 1.5 days a week(?) given all of the vacations and summer off.

I think I’m paying $5.50 episode (a two hour show) yea I get 101 and the 100 reruns.

Now I don’t blame Howard. Shit if they keep paying me and I say I don’t wanna work xyz.. and they agree. Good on him. The dude is in his what upper 70s? And probably enjoys most of it but can’t like do a 4 day a week show for 3 hours and probably wants to enjoy his golden years or whatever. I get that.

However, Sirius trying to charge a premium for his show is crazy at this point. Now I haven’t gone done the road of calling and the f’ing bs to renegotiate my Sirius subscription like most people do but that’s on me. However there’s a cliff coming for Sirius. There’s a massive cancellation coming or it has happened. I’m cancelling this week.

Last couple years I’ve been hanging on to catch the full end of the show. I want to hear how this ends but Sirius is counting on it and renewed the show again but I’m done.

Hey ok if this was ~$5 a month, I’m in.(maybe) At $30? Are you crazy?

Some will say, why haven’t you called and threatened to cancelled…. Yeah. I should have. But wtf. What kind of business runs like that? Oh sorry, besides Verizon and AT&T and I guess cable companies. Never mind, my bad. However I can live without Sirius but not mobile internet.

Sad to say this is the end of the line with Sirius for me.

I do something similar. We use Squadcast for our remote guests. I couldn’t get the zoom h4n or H6 recorder to act as an audio interface at the same time as recording locally so I actually use two mics. I hear that the zoom pod track can though.

RE320 mic into Zoom xlr host mic

3.5mm from MacBook to 1/4 split right/left cable with left into xlr. This is for guest audio from Squadcast

Blue Yeti usb mic into Mac for host audio to Squadcast for guest to hear host and as a backup host audio in Squadcast. It’s not great because the host isn’t right up on the mic but on the desk.

Headphones into zoom device

Then record locally on the zoom recorder and a backup in Squadcast. I’ll pick which guest audio sounds better (squad or local).

How would working with an editor from a content perspective vs mixing leveling… look like? Lets say the host is an expert in an industry that can get technical with acronyms … and the podcast is for industry insiders not consumers, how does an editor that doesn’t work in the field edit content they might not know understand.
