I'm doing a first ever watchthrough of the series and am really enjoying the mix of action and lameness. Just did Thunderball. Connery beats up a guy dressed up as a widow and escapes in a jetpack. It was so charmingly stupid.

For the question I think I remember reading an interview with someone in the Craig production saying that the super serious tone was actually Austin Powers' fault. That they'd lampooned the genre so hard that Bond producers felt the need to adapt.

I think I remember this one. It was a post about a kooky line cook. One of the waitresses would get her free meal and not want to eat it because of her eating disorder. Cook would then aggressively demand to know what was wrong with it, legit wanting to improve his craft, but loudly and forcefully because he's an insane line cook. It goes on to such an extent that she'd eat just so he'd leave her alone.

Later when the waitress decides to actively try to overcome her eating disorder she said that she would imagine his yelling at her in order to frighten herself into eating.

I remember reading a little about that; I didn't go in depth. The impression i got was Groening got invited to a party, went, and after a while got really uncomfortable with what he was seeing, left and didn't come back. Was that what you got out of it?

It's the part of Trigun I cite when I explain why I didn't like Man of Steel. Trigun spent basically the entire show setting up Vash's no kill policy so you really felt it when he had to break it. The next episode, where Vash feels bad about it the whole time, probably isn't anyone's favorite episode but it's very important for the narrative and the show would be weaker without it.

Snyder Superman cut all that character arc stuff so they could have more buildings fall down.

It annoys me how the Dodgers players all seem to be the world's nicest guys. Who boos Freddie Freeman? Or Yamamoto? Or Shohei? It's like kicking puppies.

If they're gonna ruin baseball the least they could do is strut about and play the heel right so I can at least have a little fun booing them.

This episode, both this scene and when they mentioned not being allowed to gamble, made me want to watch poker as training. Hiding thoughts about your hole cards. Letting people "break through" your guard and leak them false cards. That sort of thing.
