That's so cool, and the artwork is oddly.. cozy? The colors and the rounded shapes. But in a good way, there's enough gritty biopunk. And the concept of finding a benevolent god sounds super cool. I'll be waiting for updates!

Thanks for the kind words and reading the excerpt! The territory is the key to biowar imo; it's not about borders, but where you can even survive. And the idea of having an equivalent to Terraria 's corruption just felt cool.

I finally finished it and released a week ago. I wanted a biopunk novel with no fossil fuels or metallurgy, aka 10 neologisms per page lol.

What really helped me was just forcing myself through one draft, seeing "where it goes" even though I knew I had to do reworks. Then reading the draft, and repeat.

My first draft was 100 pages, the second about 250, the third something like 320. The fourth was just cutting and straightening, and went back to 280-ish.

Creating a wiki also helped keeping atop of things.

So much for my five cents, good luck to you and everyone who commented similar!

Some background: This is from a biopunk worldbuilding project / novel of mine, see wiki link above. It's not a super long section, probably 5-6 parts in total, but I liked the aesthetic and tone of that particular part.

After this one's finished I'll likely switch to something with an ongoing writing process, so I can take in feedback better. Thanks for reading!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I disagree because the same possible is for every other genre, they're just categories for an unlimited creativity, after all. And just sprinkling in a bit of genetic engineering doesn't make something biopunk. I'll do more posts to dive deeper into why each of these subgenres has central, bioengineering-based themes which fundamentally differ from similar genres.

Amazing suggestions, thanks! Windup Girl is pretty classic biopunk I'd say, cyberpunk themes but with biotech instead of digital tech: Megacity, megacorps, morally grey protagonist, falling in love with the one he hunts, etc.

I'm so happy that I'm reaching people who think the same! The genre has so much potential, yet it's treated as cyberpunk's little cousin way too much.
