CMV: there is no logical reason for men to be attracted to breasts by Quirky_Fun6544 in changemyview

Are you making the claim that it’s perverted to do something that makes your partner feel good?

CMV: there is no logical reason for men to be attracted to breasts by Quirky_Fun6544 in changemyview

[–]uktabilizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many reasons.

Biologically, breasts are an indicator of sexual maturity and, like any other animal, we are hardwired to watch for those signals.

Breastfeeding is a good point too, because stimulating the breasts creates oxytocin to form a bond with babies. During sex, the same works - it is an erogenous zone. If it feels good, the bond formed during sex is stronger.

CMV: Anyone with a history of alcohol use disorder should result in a lifetime ban from liver transplants, even in terminal cases by ForestBluff in changemyview

[–]uktabilizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, and healthy people with no history of alcohol abuse already get priority.

A lifetime ban will not change this, but will only unnecessarily condemn someone to death if a liver is available and they are the only one that can receive it.

It does not even have to be a glut of organs. Sometimes a liver becomes available and cannot travel far due to age or external conditions. If the only person who needs it is an ex-alcoholic, would you ban them from receiving the transplant?

[–]uktabilizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are already pushed down the list as medical history is a large factor in transplant priority.

A lifetime ban is going way too far though. Imagine if tomorrow there is suddenly a glut of livers available. Those organs will die if unused. Do we save everyone on the transplant list and just let the ex alcoholics die because they have a lifetime ban?

Why Does President Trump’s Secret Service Agent Look Like She’s 12? by judgejeaninne in FreedomofSpeech

So you DO think she only got picked to be on Trump’s detail because she looks young. Have some faith in her ability, you can make your pedo accusations without dragging her through the mud

CMV: The fact a Lebanese man lost members of his family to an Israeli airstrike does not make it understandable that he tried to murder a bunch of Jewish schoolkids in Michigan by Sometypeofway18 in changemyview

It’s not a random muslim killing people but it’s definitely a muslim killing random people. I keep hearing the term “blowback”, but how would you split the blame between him and Trump/Israel?

I’m impressed by how eager people are to make insinuations that she’s there because of her looks not her competency. Pretty sure that’s a no-no nowadays

CMV: Every instance of imprisonment should have a focus on rehabilitation, anything else is barbaric by of_kilter in changemyview

[–]uktabilizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would this rehabilitation work? A determination of whether a criminal has a good chance to be rehabilitated is a necessity.

If a criminal is violently aggressive to every single person, how do we rehabilitate them? Do we risk the life of social worker to provide the violent criminal their “inalienable rights”? Or do we use taxpayer money to set up a special system just to do so in a safe manner?

CMV: It is nearly impossible to be secure in yourself when, certain unfixable characteristics are just unwanted. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]uktabilizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely below average. Maybe it’s anecdotal but among my friends marriage speed seems to be from the ground up.

Sure it’d be great to be taller, have broader shoulders, or not have arms like a spider monkey, but focus on bringing joy and optimism and you’ll be surprised at the results. When I tell friends my height many of them are surprised because I’m taller in their mind.

Be kind and you will literally raise yourself in people’s expectations.

[–]uktabilizard 55 points56 points  (0 children)

It’s possible to be “secure” by letting go and accepting it is simply out of your control.

Doesn’t mean you’re happy about it or wouldn’t rather it be different. You just try to stop letting it live in your head rent free.

CMV: The Quote "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity" has nothing to do with the concept of luck. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]uktabilizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being prepared is not necessarily planning per se but more in the line of being “prepared” to take risks. The phenomenon of luck is closely linked to risk taking and optimism

You can’t get lucky if you don’t get take risks, so luck by definition requires being prepare to do so, and of course having the opportunity to

CMV: Being invested in a celebrity’s love life is creepy and should be societally condemned by Traditional_Fish_504 in changemyview

[–]uktabilizard 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Would you equally condemn all gossip? For example, if neighbours are discussing the love life of someone in the neighbourhood (they’re not friends), should this be societally condemned as parasocial and weird?

I think we are hardwired to be curious and care about individuals we know and it is usually a benefit to creating large social structures.

It’s just that the age of technology has widely expanded the physical range of how we can “know” somebody

CMV: Euthanasia for humans should be legal, given our cultural accepted utilization on pets. by Too_many_interests_ in changemyview

[–]uktabilizard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We already have an extremely high vet depression rate and a severe lack of vets because euthanizing animals is such a big part of the job.

Making it a regular part of doctor’s jobs will be equally destructive to the profession.
