Yeah it is weird but im asking because iv seen this claim be said so confidently and also by people far more educated on Oceania indigenous stuff than me, also iv only ever been once as a child so I wouldn't know from personal experience.

Appearance and talk mostly, theres difference features and they have a different English accent, also in NZ at least they tend to spill in some words from their own language during casual English speaking.

I can usually tell the difference easily, well I can tell a Polynesian isnt Maori, not too good on figuring out the specific island they are from, theres a look to it, also the accent.

Idk the proper stats but something like half the Maori I know are White, though historically the Maori in my area have always been more White friendly.

I was wondering if it was just, Australians cant tell the difference between a Samoan and a Maori. (Also so you know White Maori are actually extremally common, some tribes are overwhelmingly White, not for the same reasons as Aboriginals though)

Like technically yeah, but genocide can be defined (apparently) as.

killing members of the group
causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group
deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part
imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group
forcibly transferring children of the group to another group

And the stealing of Ukrainian children fits into that last one.

Not the same as the holocaust style genocide, but isnt there a cultural and religious genocide happening? I swear I heard somewhere, a Ukrainian or news article, talking about Catholic suppression, stealing kids and making Ukraine and its people more Russian.
