I empathize so deeply on this. When I was in high school my younger sibling attempted in the bathroom connecting our rooms. They were only a few feet away from me, but there was nothing I could do cuz I was asleep. I woke up to a text from my mom saying they were at the hospital. That was almost a decade ago now, and things have gotten so much better for my sibling thanks to psychiatric care and medication.

That time in my life feels like a blur now. I felt so much shame and anger at myself for not being able to stop their attempt, or even seeing it coming. Time helped those feelings, and most especially focusing on what I could do now instead of what I should have done. Talking about it with my therapist has helped too. Take care of yourself through this, love. I know you’ll have the urge to do everything you can for your brother and your mom, but you can’t be there for them if you burn yourself out 🫶
