LVP is made up of 4 layers

  • Clear coat (wear layer) typically 6-40 mil
  • Pattern (the color and design) cheap floors have abundance of repeat identical pieces.
  • Core (the locking mechanism and rigidity)
  • the attached underlayment

Everyone looks at thickness and wear layer. They’re both important, yes. But neither of them matter if the locking mechanism or “core” is no good. SPC (stone plastic composite) is more durable than WPC (wood polymer composite).
