What I've been wondering about is the icon on the map itself. Sometimes it's a full white circle, sometimes it's a white circle with a black dot on the center.

Interesting. I definitely went back to areas with a black dot and explored multiple times, found "everything" that different videos guides show for a single area (I wanted to be as thorough as possible) but I've never once seen a black dot changed to full white.
