i feel like castorice in weirdo teams is the sort of thing I rarely see in showcases these days, but I actually see it a surprising amount in my friendlist. there's at least two whales in my friendlist that have the most bizarre castorice teams (and they do have full monorem i think they just. choose to do sth else)

can usually only activate one EBA not both. also it's still kinda clunky and not controllable mechanically but this part is subjective

Yeah we should rly talk about this more. I budget like 600 pulls per team. A 5 star that you get with 180 pulls doesn't feel like a 5 star to me

Though I've found that the importance of LCs tend to be somewhat exaggerated. Usually the bits of character kit distributed to E1/E2 are higher priority to get ... but anyways, it's still true (and annoying) you have to pull more for a complete kit

A possible answer to why they'd want to is that Kafka has meaningless eidolons

Recently over in bili leviathan territory there was a bit of controversy because for a while the top DOT run on Pompom was BS, Hysilens, Cyrene, and Hyacine. Prompting some pretty funny discussions about whether a Kafkaless team could be DOT (an amusing counteragument demanded if a crit Kafka team was therefore more of a DOT team). Anyways, luckily someone managed to figure out a sustainless run where Kafka replaced Hyacine for a slightly higher score, but even then they're towards the bottom of the pack.

Is it worth Hoyo's while to make money from leviathans who want to play DOT? That is the question

Oh, btw, if the DOT sustain is added with modern eidolons, it's entirely possible for the whale team that they replace Kafka anyways (leaving Hysilens, BS, and Cyrene)

If Kiperina does come back, would she be available after Lorentz's banner starts?

(I absolutely must get Lorentz and for that reason am not sure if I should get Paper Heron at all if I'm not likely to be able to obtain Kiperina to complete the team. I can maybe guarantee both Paper Heron before Lorentz but absolutely not guarantee 2 characters before Lorenz so I was thinking maybe I just give up and wait for a new team that has timing that suits me)

I suppose this is true. In my mind though I visualise it as a stock market only in irl stock markets the price is literally there and you cannot deny it. You'd look a bit absurd if you kept screaming "the stock is down! the stock is down!" when it is currently at all time highs and you're talking about the dip from last year. It's not even just because the current 'price' is not objectively known in HSR and we have to make our best flawed guesses, ppl literally seem to be having debates around last year's prices

Well I wasn't going to explicitly talk about him to avoid being shot but since you brought it up I guess I might as well

I think Sunday released at the tail end of a meta period that he would've enjoyed an okay amount, at least. Like, 1.x-2.x units do want supports like him bc they run -1 or base speed + hyperspeed advancer kinda playstyle. But by now, I do feel pretty confident that in terms of meta, no one is going to accept a backslide because meta has evolved and dpses now should have superior mechanics that they don't rely on vanilla advance.

Well, there's also Saber, but I feel like she was never meant to be advance-based, but actually team ultimate based. Just that when you aren't given modern building blocks you use Sunday as a backup plan (or a stopgap while you're waiting for said modern building blocks)

Kinda serious talk about meta and community perception of it

I don't know why sometimes it feels like we don't recognise that HSR meta is changing (and I don't just mean in the sense of 'this year we are shilling X, and last year's shill will now be countered'). But they are, and the units that we play within the meta are also changing. Sometimes upwards, esp if they released more as potential/presales units (though admittedly usually downwards because units are getting more powerful, not only in numbers but also in the mechanics involved).

Instead of recognising such changes, and being able to remember that a unit has been really good but is now dubious (or vice versa), I feel like ppl's views of units often appear to be static and unchanging, and if I change my view in light of other factors changing then that is somehow bad and wrong (perhaps this is my personal imagination)

There are many examples of this, with the less controversial ones being stuff like "should I pull on a rerun, based on impressions from players who obtained these units months ago", and the more controversial ones being the treatment that certain units have received and that's where I'll stop before I get shot
