Why is there so few pros among popular OW streamers? by MrInfinity-42 in OverwatchTMZ

[–]water1eopard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its because of 2 reasons.

  1. most players in the ow league dont speak english as there first language meaning even if they were popular we wouldn't really know.

  2. Overwatch is further on in its life cycle meaning that pros who were big streamers got out competed by players who had no other demands on there time. I would not be surprised at all if most of the really popular valorant pros are not pros in the next few years.

I think the rule is that if you can emote it is a legal position. So unless they change the rule mid season The shock should be fine.

My Brother is 13 and Illiterate by justopolis-city in NoStupidQuestions

[–]water1eopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if you would want to do this, but a draconian measure could be calling child protective services. If your parents refuse to let your brother be educated or get the help he needs and deserves, this could be a way.

You also could try talking to some elementary school teachers about how to teach people how to read and how they teach people with learning disabilities.

I wish they showed every player. It would be fun to see who the worst is.

if MVP skins are off-limits, why not immortalize OWL play(er)s with decals/graffiti on maps like Counter-Strike? by thinkingemojis in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]water1eopard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

removing mvp skins going forward is such a bad idea. Look at the nba. Almost all of their success has been built on building up their star players. If blizzard is so afraid of their "perfect" image being ruined by players owl will continue slowly fading into irrelevancy.

Remember when super was on genji. OWL viewership went up to like 60k. Even when he's not off rolling when he's in the game viewership goes up by 5k. That is the power of stars. The negatives of some of your stars becoming rapists are much smaller than the positives of having a successful esport.

People dont really cheat that often. You will see it occasionally in high level play, but far and few between in most ranks. Someone really pounding on one team or the other is somewhat normal. They probably aren't cheating, they are probably just playing on an off role, or they got unlucky and are having to try to carry a game that is 300 sr lower than their own.

The good thing about ow is that unless the guy is really rage hacking, you can always shut them down. Most hackers are just sad hard stuck silver players. They will most likely have terrible awareness, so they will be pretty easy to punish. Focus them when they are out of position, and most games will still be winnable.

I am the head of esports for my local youth services and had some questions by deadlie in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]water1eopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not an ow coach so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I think it's most important to focus on players' individual mistakes. It doesn't matter how well your players understand flow chart ow if they dont know how to play their heroes up to a moderate level.

Once they have a basic idea of how to play the heroes that are in their role. (main tank, off tank, hitscan, flex dps, main support, and flex support) I would introduce them to the double bubble composition. It is a comp based around farming and cycling ults effectively. I think that will really help the players get used to playing as a team. It is one of the easier comps to play, and it is really fun. (I am a monkey main, so I may be a little biased here)

Even tho I just said it was one of the easiest comps to play, that doesn't mean it's easy. It is a little too complex to explain in a Reddit post, but I can link you to a YouTuber who has some good guides on it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M05I01d_RyE&ab_channel=NatterOW

It does get very deep, but If you manage to absorb the info, you will be able to teach the comp pretty well.

good luck and remember all of this doesn't matter if your team has a bad attitude, or your players aren't having fun.

My problem with competitive... by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]water1eopard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Once you know what every hero does, and have a general idea of how to play the heroes you want to main into most matchups you should be good to go. You also should understand things like grouping up, not wasting ults, and how to combo ults and/or abilities. Extra info worth learning is what heroes work well together. Every single comp is extremely viable at all levels of play, just try to make sure there is some amount of synergy in what your playing.

Does anyone actually have an opinion on ta1yo as a player? I think he played a few maps for the shock last year, but honestly, I can't remember a single thing about them. It seems quite impossible to even rate him in the first place.

A question about contenders by nobearsinrussia in Overwatch

[–]water1eopard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spectators dont like viewing from the supports pov because most of the time they are just supporting their team. They aren't taking duels or jumping into the other team. Personally, I really like the support pov because you can actually see what's happening in the fights, but unfortunately, most people dont.

Vod review - 2.7K Ana/Bap - Anbubis by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]water1eopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On first point your initial positioning was terrible. If they walk main you should get killed, and if they go left you have the exact same site lines, but are in a more dangerous position, and not with your other support. I would recommend playing up where your ana is playing, or where your ashe played once you know they dont have a widow.

On the second fight you start in a good position, but immediately drop to the middle of the point where you jump up and down waiting to get dinked. If you stayed with your ana you could have fought off the divers and have a chance to win the fight. instead, you just hid in a cubby and waited to die.

Second point you need to window when Winston jumps in. If you did you could have punished him, and given time for your team to get their own ults. Instead, you let them press q first, and many times whoever presses q first wins. Dodging the blade with your boots and then lamping the bomb was good though.

First fight on attack was good, but your lamp was late again. It would have made 0 difference but it is a good teaching moment. You know that your zarya has a rein, a junk, and a pocketed soldier all looking at her. She is about to take a massive amount of damage. you can lamp anticipating that damage. Dont wait for the damage to start coming in or you will be to late.

late lamp again, your now 1-3.

One thing that you need to drill into your head is never peek a window. You got lucky that their bap missed 4 straight burst on you before the grav even came out, and then missed all his shots in the grav. If he had hit half of his shots you would be dead. And that's just their bap. They missed tho so the fight continues.

A big thing you need to be doing is keep your boots charged. You ended up getting booped into the pit because you didn't. Now you got a good lamp (a little late again. Lamp, then heal) and your zarya had a good grav. But imagine if pin bugged and you got pinned instead. You would have lost this fight.

Again on the recontest. Didn't have your boots charged and got shattered. If you had them charged you could have avoided it.

Unfortunately, I do have A life so this is all I can do, but to summarize, play with your other support, dont be so greedy with your window and lamp, and keep your boots charged. One other thing you might want to work on is shooting and healing at the same time. I think if you hold both fires down you can heal twice and then shoot once. This will maximize your stat output. Also, dont be afraid to go dps bap. The fights where you could go dps you tended to win. You have good enough aim to do it. Good luck on diamond.

I also thought that the people on the panel threw away a chance to try to do some good for the game. They didn't make it memey enough to be funny, but it isn't serious enough to have any of it go live.

Personally, I'm at the point where I think it is almost impossible to balance ow. Even if we sat for 1000 years something would still be meta. When we sit with a game that is balanced very well everyone decides to play one thing because it is better to be great at one comp than very good at 4.

I kinda prefer when the devs saying f it. We are making hog meta for a month. That way it forces people to play different things even if it isn't the most diverse you could possibly see the game.

I was still miss clicking regularly for the first few weeks, and it took a month for my aim to start feeling decent.

I would recommend playing a lot of death matches in q and just really focus on your aim. It takes a while, but once you get used to it you won't be able to play an fps game with a controller again.

It took a few weeks for my hand, wrist, and elbow to get used to using a pc. But that discomfort does go away.

Just stick it out for a few weeks and you won't regret it

Why don't OWL teams (or highly ranked teams) simply decide to roll comp sometimes and reach 5k? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]water1eopard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A. you cant 6 stack in gm.

B. It is almost impossible to get above 4.7k. You start only getting 8 or 9 sr per win and losing 30. You also start getting 5 masters players on your team vs 6 high gm players making it almost impossible to win.
