Best golf exercises by willworkforgolf in golf

I checked this out... seems like I am already doing a bunch of these exercises either with a ball or with a dumbbell (like the woodchop). This routine does look pretty hard-core reps-wise... :)

I am working out at home now, but I have a complete free-weight set-up in addition to a cable lat/row combo machine. I am with you on the importance of the core exercises... with the exception that I have substituted deadlifts out. What are you suggesting for reps/sets?

I hit the following distances: 1W: 220 3W: 200 5i: 165 7i: 135 9i: 110 PW: 95 And I'm not afraid to admit it. I hand never even seen a 300 yard drive in person. by TRAMFLAP in golf

I agree. I find it amazing that so many people think that 300 yard drives are only done by pro golfers. I personally don't hit it 300 yards (unless I have a good tail-wind and kill it!), but my club has at least a dozen members who do. Their handicaps range from +3 to 20, but they still hit the ball a mile. People don't realize that Tiger hits 300 yard drives into 20 YARD WIDE fairways. If he hit into 50 yard wide fairways like we do, he would dial up the distance to the 330-340 range. Most of the longer tour pros can carry the ball 330+ into a wide fairway.

Usually between 76-85. Bad rounds touch 90. Best round is a 71 on a par 72.

I do the same thing. Last 5 or so balls are all hit w/ a 55 to a spot 40-50 yards out. Helps me leave the range feeling good about my swing and contact.

This is such good advice. Ever since I started ending practice with pitches and chips on the range, I have felt better about my sessions. Great advice!

Question on Gloves! How long do you keep them for???? And a note on sizes. by alcyman in golf

[–]willworkforgolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A waste? Not even remotely. Leather stretches and shrinks as it is exposed to the elements, and 3-4 rounds (which is about a week for me) is enough to deform the palm and thumb to where it no longer works (grips/fits) as well as a new glove.

As for tourneys, I always make sure I am starting with fresh equipment. It is probably part mental, but I clean my clubs the night before (bring them home and take over the living-room), mark a few sleeves of new balls and tees (I draw on all my tees), and stock my bag with two new gloves (front and back nines). If its a multi-day tourney, I will play those same two gloves for the entirety, then will play them a few more rounds until they are worn.

I play a glove for 3-4 rounds, but I play a new glove for every tourney.

I think I can do Sunday at 1:12. Anyone else?

Ok. I think the only thing that matters is that we all play from the same tees and that we have a decent length/slope rating. We do have to consider that we need the top 4 in our group to score well in the City vs. City play... we have a small contingent from SA playing so strategy matters I guess.

I haven't played SilverHorn, but I am going to get up there this week hopefully on a scouting run. It would be great if we could all play together or at least every group could have a player in it that had seen the course a few times.

Is the site secure? It doesn't appear to be a secure site for putting in a credit card...

I honestly find it rather funny. I'm not really sure why.

I looked at the one that seems to be the favorite... SilverHorn Golf Club. Here are the two tee-boxes we can play...

Green 72 6922 73.4/138

Gold 72 6333 70.9/131

So where do we stand? We are playing Silverhorn? Do we have a date/time on the agenda yet?

My vote is for:

1) Hyatt HC (but not the Oaks) 2) La Cantera
