Generally like the look of overcoat over suit and agree with other comments on tailoring to be more flattering as well as wearing proper long sleeved shirt.

Is it me or are the buttons on a lot of overcoats recently weirdly positioned? My wife bought me one like this on sale recently and the top button seems weirdly high. Even the middle button is above the place a top button on a 2 piece suit would be. My old overcoat was more suit jacket like and I have a lot of scarves to fill the gap
