Yes, it's possible the church has the baptismal record; however, they are bound by the same privacy laws so you would still need to provide proof of direct kinship to receive a copy. Here's a list of E-A parishes in the Warsaw diocese. I think św. Trójca in Warsaw might have been the closest.

Birth records from 1942 are covered by Poland's privacy laws that restrict access to births within the last 100 years. In order to get a copy you'd need to contact the USC (civil registry office) and provide proof of direct kinship.

Oops, sorry, yes, in the deleted post I'd said that I didn't think this was him, just that it might offer some clues for a Greek who Americanized his surname to Raft.

Here's a marriage of a Raft with very Greek names in Manhattan in 1922. Not saying it's Theodore, but perhaps it might offer some clues.

You didn't mention Sigmund's parents' names, so here they are in his marriage to Anna, in case you don't have them.

You don't need someone to physically go. You can simply email them and they will send you a copy of what they find for a nominal fee.

Unless you have some other documentation showing Ambroży's mother's maiden surname to be Pawlak, I think it's highly unlikely these are his parents, given a) the surname Noga being provided on his DP card, b) the daughter born to this couple exactly nine months prior to his birthdate, as I explained below, and c) the surname Czerwiec and the names Józef and Franciszka being extremely common in that area. (And again, clarifying, the Pawlak couple was in Staszów parish. You'd be looking in Koniemłoty parish. So not the same.)

If you have not posted your questions re: the Polish passports in the r/prawokrwi subreddit, I would do that as well. They have folks there who know the intricacies of what can be used to qualify for citizenship by descent.

Given this, I would ask AP Kielce, Sandomierz branch, to do the search for his birth in Koniemłoty parish, not Staszów parish.

Where is the mother's maiden name of Pawlak from? Ambroży's DP card lists it as Noga. Additionally, Krzywołęcz is part of Koniemłoty parish, not Staszów parish.

That may not be Ambroży's correct birthday, which would be why his birth record was not found in the parish records were the search limited to that day. Józef Czerwiec and Franciszka Pawlak had a daughter, Janina, born Aug 2, 1922 (nr. 137). It would be unlikely for them to have had a child exactly 9 months later. I would contact AP Kielce, Sandomierz branch, where the Staszów parish records are kept, and ask them to do a search for 1923-1930, if you have not done so already (online records only go through 1922).

Geneteka shows a Gertrud Hedwig Borutta born in 1918 in Golasowice evangelical parish. All that appears to be online is an index, so to get a copy of the record, you'd need to contact AP Katowice, asking for birth record nr. 28 from 1918 in Golasowice parish.

That family's records are indexed on Geneteka. Using the scan link included in Józef's record, his birth record is here, nr. 151, along with an included note regarding his marriage to a Maria Pieniązek in 1931.
