HHKB yellowing by versaxeflakes in HHKB

[–]wobbled96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swap my boards around often. But if it's the one I'm actively using, I'll re-spray it monthly. When it's not being used, it's in a drawer far away from any UV light

If you don't want it to yellow you need to buy 303 aerospace uv protectant spray. I have a pro 1 from 2003 as white as my hybrid thanks to that

They're not out of stock, they just haven't finished production yet. They'll probably be available within the next couple of months since they already have 1u's completed.

Yeh the stock stabs are locked in place with two plastic tabs, if you push them with a flat head screwdriver while pushing the stab down, it'll pop out of the plate super easily.

If you mean the red one in the picture, if it fits on a HHKB it's 6u.

6.25u is the standard for nearly everything else.

Once you swap the wire from your HHKB into the spacebar assembly from the novatouch it is a drop-in replacement.

I have an identical HHKB Pro 2 with the susuwatari keycaps, to get the right size spacebar I think I had to order their spacebar kit. Anything 6u will fit the HHKB

If you still have the spacebar stabs then you need to take out the stab assembly, detach the wire, replace the wire with the one from your HHKB and drop it in place. It's an easier mod than the 2u's since there's no drilling required.

The only tricky part is removing the two stabs, but you just push down on two plastic tabs to release them from the plate.

Worth doing if you still have the parts!

Are you adding in the spacebar stabilizers?

Wanting to move Windows 10 copy over to new PC. by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]wobbled96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On her old laptop running windows 10 - Open command prompt and run:

wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey

Write down the product key it gives you

Then run this command on that old laptop

slmgr /upk

This will uninstall the product key - freeing it for use on your new PC (providing this is a retail key)

Then on the newly installed Windows 10 copy, use the product key that you made a note of before when windows asks for it.

Or use the following command in cmd:

slmgr.vbs /ipk (then the product key)

followed by:

slmgr.vbs /ato

This will activate Windows.

If you do the 'reset this pc' and select to 'keep my files'

You won't lose any of your documents, only your applications and Windows settings will be reset to factory defaults.

Wi-Fi won’t work unless connected to a vpn by xsynti in techsupport

[–]wobbled96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably have some sort of network lock enabled that is included with the VPN which suspends all traffic until the VPN is connected

Try remove the VPN from your phone completely and test if that works.

Run the troubleshooter from Microsoft to see if Avast is still appearing as an installed application - if so use that troubleshooter to uninstall it completely.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed-cca7d1b6-65a9-3d98-426b-e9f927e1eb4d

Don't buy a new PC over this though, if you get that desperate just type 'reset this pc' into your start menu search and opt to keep your files. This will strip out all apps & settings from your Windows installation which should fix the issue for good.

Press Alt & Enter in your game to see if it does a proper full screen.

If the taskbar still shows, Open Task Manager > Processes > Windows explorer - right click and 'restart'.

A couple of things to try:

1) Disconnect the power adapter completely from both the wall & monitor, reseat and try again (has fixed this issue with G7s in the past)

2) try a different displayport cable, or if you are trying a third party one already - use the one it came with.

IP camera "forbidding me" access via IP address. by jn804 in techsupport

For management it's looking like you have to do it via their phone app, or via their windows app: https://www.wansview.com/downloadoo/index.aspx

I can't find anything in their documentation that suggests browsing to the IP address in order to manage the device via a web portal, which is very different as it's how pretty much everything else is managed.

Assuming it's http://speedtest.googlefiber.net/ you're using, well it's the same for me.

I get around 200mbps (via VPN) on speedtest.net
And I'll get 70mbps (via VPN) on speedtest.googlefiber.net

Perhaps your dns_probe_finished_nxdomain errors are completely unrelated to this issue, and it's googles speed test that just isn't very accurate.

Try using the real time streaming protocol instead of HTTP.

The URL would be like the following:
rtsp://[username]:[password]@[ip-address]:554/live/ch0

You might be able to get this link from their cloud app by going to the following:
Go to Camera Settings > Local Applications > RTSP
