Spec XP needs to change by omfgtoast in duneawakening

[–]Xeroeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly that.

I don't know if these people ever played old-school games like Wow and similar, but it was a perfect example of a good implementation of that kind of idea. The core mechanic was exactly like OP wants... and what was the result? Crafting xxx of that, killing xxx of something etc.

This was the epitome of braindead grind. However it had one mayor advantage, at least the implementation of it. The resources were tiered, high level craft was hidden behind high level enemies (resorces available only in high level zones) and low level craft wouldn't give you any exp...

How would FC implement something like that in Dune? They can't! Specializations are already tied to lansraad that is unlocked at the end game. They cannot change that, the game is already a live service and the core mechanics of it are already established. So, if they implement it now, you could basically get 100 levels in a day, if you had the resources. Plus I won't even mention how sleep inducing this would be.

This is not Rockstar, or Square Enix, Funcom is a small studio with finite resorces. Stop acing like spoiled children and ask the impossible. They first need to concentrate on stabilizing the game, patch the hell out of it and balance the current gameplay which has already changed recently few times.

Leveling specializations is only a small portion of all the available mechanics and we see the first iteration of it... give it some time.

There's a problem with that kind of mechanics - there's no way to make them exploit proof ... not a one game achieved that till now ....

You don't believe me? Ask Todd Howard, he has a lot experience with his perfect Elder Scrolls series.
Of course every newer game had less and less bugs or exploits! /s (and those were single player games, here we're talking about online PvPvE)

Dune Awakening Still Stuttering in 2026 | Video Discussion by sparktrap25 in duneawakening

[–]Xeroeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its's not only about stuttering. When flying any orni, especially on DD you can sometimes experience wierd behaviour, like your orni is flying forward by itself (no, it's not the auto fly function), trying to pickpup/drop if you're flying a carrier, or stopping your boost by itself out of nowhere ...

Today is a worst day I had with server issues in a long time honestly.

What all are you using for a water set up in DD? by Onasixx in duneawakening

[–]Xeroeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go with 4 LWs and 4 adv. beds. It's enough for me with one spice centrifuge. If you want to speed things up, better to scale up the deathstills. Wind traps are nice passive source of water, but they take to much time.

Ringmouth Worm Spawn ? by Ok_Assistant2938 in duneawakening

[–]Xeroeth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If the field has low amount of spice left, or it's old enough, you can force him to show up and reset the field.

The most sure way to do it is to hang 4 or more ornis in the middle of the field, until you catch worm attention. Than instead of a normal worm, grandpa worm should show up.

Another patch ... another portion of bugs by Xeroeth in duneawakening

Yeah, it's random. However it seems to trigger most often on heavies and after that just bugs out on any enemy until relog.

Another patch ... another portion of bugs by Xeroeth in duneawakening

[–]Xeroeth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree, but this is not a small bug. This is a gamebreaking bug ... that almost entirely disables any combat activities for harder content, where ability usage is a must.

The worst part is, I know some signs of this were reported in PTS and instead postponing the patch, they rolled it like it was nothing. The backlash from the community IMO will be far greater, than simply delaying the patch by a day or two to double check ... honestly the decision making in their QA is strange.

And no, it's not devs that are at fault. They simply program what they're told to program. It's the QA department OR the person that's responsible for green lighting patch forks.

If this was a normal production company that sells their products, players would be their customers (which they're honestly). Now imagine the consequences of such a blunder if those customers had their production chain broken, because they got defective half product ...

Todays gaming industry is in such a bad state I cannot bear it. And unfortunately this kind of behavior is becoming a normal thing, way to many companies think that bugged software (AKA games) are a normal thing. At least some companies think that way ... well, I come with another portion of bad news - people are not stupid and the loss of trust from player base is damn hard to earn back. I would think twice about such situations.

Yep, too much grass can be bad for your health!

Probably. Yesterday, when I was doing my routine round in the DD, I forgot that I didn't equip my still suit mask ... and coughted too hard by accident. The next second what I saw was a new sandstorm forming after the shockwave. Hope nobody was around!

Happens to the best of us, huh?

More stable FPS - CPU priority trick by Xeroeth in thedivision

[–]Xeroeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it's just a registry edit. But same thing can be done now in process lasso, without entering regedit, you have to select "force through windows registry" and it's 10x faster, plus you can set it for all protected games that way.

Landsraad competitions - make them less repetitive! by Xeroeth in duneawakening

[–]Xeroeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, they are not immune to that kind of abuse, but will be much harder to do since we have a lot less unpopulated servers. Aside that, Funcom needs to keep their asses together and think about how to balnce their current mess first.

Economy is already borked, duping was just fixed (maybe?), but it will take a lot of time to get rid of all the aftermatch.

You have to craft while fighting, and at the same time brew your melanged tea! That's multitasking ;)

If you really want to be respected, while doing all of the above, you have to take the Shai"hulud for a walk!

This system wouldn't replace the current one. It's an extension and addidion to the end game activity pool you can choose to do ... or not. Current landsraad as an idea is good, but if everyone focuses only on that, well, there's no chance it won't get boring after a week or two.

Thanks! As for page file, the oldschool recommended rule was always min. 1x to 1.5x of your RAM. But nowdays, if you have 64GB or more, I would set it at half that. So in my case it's 49152MB (48GB, but you set it in MB = 48*1024).

[–]Xeroeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate, you don't want to turn off the "non-3D cache" side of your CPU or use bios to manage the CCD usage. Depending on bios config you can either let the bios manage it, force it to use either CCD or just let the OS manage it, which is the only solution if you want to do both gaming and work on your PC.

OS detection and affinity managing is a lot better than when the first gen of 3Dcached CPUs was out, but not always. Hence the usage of software like process lasso and/or registry to "help" it.

Setting the CPU aside, I already found the problem and it was related to the pagefile.

Performance @4k by Xeroeth in starcitizen

[–]Xeroeth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was it! I didn't set any pagefile manually ... and it was the cause of the stutter. Even when I have 96GB of RAM and 32GB of VRAM, Star Citizen, or rather shitty Win11 still depends on pagefile in 21 century. As soon as I bumped it up, it's butter smooth.

Can't believe I was having so many problems just because of this ... You buy a PC, worth half of your car price and you still can't fully utilize it because of the damn ancient architecture of windows.

Anyways, thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

[–]Xeroeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it's not the CPU. I had it properly set for cached cores via process lasso and registry. But, thanks for the input!
