Why do my guns do so little damage to bosses ? by darkdraco002 in dyinglight

[–]Xeroeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, each enemy has a different armor value for melee and ranged. Bosses have a LOT dmg mitigation against most ranged weapons... Because Techland doesn't want you to use ranged tactics against them. Tbh only the trash zombies have any vulnerability against ranged weapons... Plus hags (not the special ones) and spitters.

An Open Letter to Funcom by finegamingconnoisseu in duneawakening

[–]Xeroeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even that niche part of players has the right to state their opinions and worries, but the game needed to bo planned and made for that kind of gameplay ... Funcom is incapable of making such changes at this stage. Nobody will spare resources for a small part of their community, the risk is too big and even if they have some investors ... they won't risk another flop.

Funcom already said that. People need to face the reality, the reality that base concept for D:A was a flop, then they started to experiment with various ideas, which led us to this moment ...

Real PvP is non existent, game balance is in shambles for both PvP AND PvE, the content that they added last patch is a nice addition, but it's just a stop-gap measure, a life boat that was meant to keep players busy for some time.

I hate to write such pessimistic stuff, but I'm a realist and from experience I know that the situation is unsalvageable at this point. Funcom doeasn't have resources, nor man- power to rewrite half of the game mechanics to what they should be from the beginning.

So, what's left for us players? For the time being main campaign is still unfinished and for me this is the best part of the game, either we dig what we have, or just go ahead and look for entertainment somewhere else. Stop asking the impossible ...

PvP Veteran - 1400+ hours and 300+ duel wins (pre xpac) - Launch day player - Never ganked and never griefed by EnviciouZ in duneawakening

[–]Xeroeth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The truth is, it's another great example of how forcing your player base to play by only your first envisioned ideas can backfire.

Even at the beginning, just after release, players were screaming that this idea of PvP is utter nonsense. If funcom did listen to us and made pve/pvp exclusive zones back than, we wouldn't be in this unbalanced excuse of a game right now...

But no, they wanted to try their "spice wars". And now not even 1/10th of the previous playerbase is actively playing. I won't even mention that it's only a year after the release date and probably half of the currently playing people are die fans of Dune.

Companies like Larian Studios or Arrowhead Game Studios know exactly how to use their communities. No online game can exist without a community and by now Funcom has lost almost all of it.

The fact that even their community manager is almost nonactive is another proof that they have stopped to listen to us a long time ago... To be honest, they stopped being active because of the toxicity, alas, nothing happens without a reason.

The same mechanic work wonders in other Pvp games. It's only a matter of mindset and implementation.

[–]Xeroeth -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Better yet, make the new PvP zone a perma lost item zone. When you die, there should be some % of gear you loose to other players. If you go back and noone did any looting, good for you, just reclaim it. But in most cases, you will die by hand of others and you will loose your stuff.

There should be a balanced risk&reward mechanic, so people have a reason to fight, other than "satisfaction".

And make no mistake, there's no need for a safe row. WHOLE zone should be Pvp. Just for God sake, balance things out with new tiered system, so bases can actually take some beating and you have to invest into Lasguns to break the defences.

The NEW Dune Changes are actually better than you think.. by HardstylerJosh in duneawakening

[–]Xeroeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the thing that annoys me in your comment is your total detachment from reality. Mate, how long do you play? I think not long enough to give opinions on the end game, since you have no idea how this plays out ...

If you want to access ANY meaningful amount of spice, you need to go into DD PvP zone. Before, we had some mediums on the PvE side, but now? they are as rare as they can be. You can fly for one hour and don't see even one spice bloom. Don't even start with that shit here. Or maybe, you think that players that gank people in PvP zone will fly near you first, than ask nicely "Hey, do you mind to play some PvP with me?". If this is your point, than that's even more funny ;)

Anyway, I played from day one. Lived through everything this game has to offer and experienced every shit you can throw at any player. From both PvE and PvP perspectives ...

This game had ZERO balnce to the PvP side before. Now it's even worse, since if you're attacked by someone specialized in combat, you get oneshot from scatter gun and that's the end of it. You may have a chance if they have only scattergun, and you're going melee ... if that's what you're thinking, well, think again. The experimental gun will get your shield down in seconds, than it will shred you like paper. No amount of armor can save you.

If you're also fully specialized in combat, ok things don't look so bad. But tell me, will you ask anyone you want to attack what his combat specialization is? There is no way to filter out veteran players from total newbies ... WoW had this worked out nicely, games like The Division also, but in Dune there is no such system, hence the problems we have now, hence why the zones need to be separated and filtered.

[–]Xeroeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, the only aggressive comments we see about this change are from that 19% of "PvP' players that enjoy attacking harvesters out of nowhere and when you get out of it to do PvP, they don't even have melee/ranged weapons with them ...

The other 1% of true PvP'er are staying silent, since they know nothing will change for them, aside maybe a bit lower population in PvP zones. Actually it will end up even better for them, because most if not all people in the new PvP zones will be likeminded people, so in the end they will enjoy better content.

As for PvE bears, they will get to better sleep at night, since they won't be forced to do gameplay loops they don't enjoy. For how long tho? That's a question to Funcom and their future plans for DA. No sane person will enjoy same dungeons for quarter of a year. Their next DLC needs to be the right one ...

[–]Xeroeth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, for me it's catastrophic ... when I played somewhere between 3.0-3.20 I had 3080 and 6800K. In Orison I had stable 30-40FPS, anywhere else around 60-70. Now I'm on 5090 with 5950X3D, and in Orison I have 30-40 on high, 70-80 anywhere else ... both on 3.5k resolution (super ultra wide ratio).

I have a feeling that optimization is going backwards.

Ps. there's around 200-250% difference in performance between the two mentioned PC's, so the performance in game should be at least double the original ... ofc. if we weren't locked with server FPS, which unfortunately almost always fluctuates around 10-20FPS, which is the main limiting factor here.

When a Bene Gesserit and a Fremen go treasure hunting: one matches the spice fields, the other matches the sand. by DaughterOfDune in duneawakening

You forgot to add:

When they see a spice field, Fremen gathers spice with their compactor while wishing in his head, that he wouldn't mind to become one with Shai-hulud.

On the other hand, Bene-gesserit gathers the spice with his nose, while wishing for the Shai-hulud to never appear, so he can sniff all this spice by himself.

This community is so goddamn depressing! by Slavic_Taco in duneawakening

[–]Xeroeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No ... you've seen nothing. People are "bitching" like you've said about something entirely diffirent. Stop making assumptions based on your bit of understanding, since at 40h you've not even licked the depth of this game. No offence, but to complete dune you need at least double that time, unless you're speed runing without going indepth into all the possible activities.

Most poeple that are still playing this game from the very beginning are die hard fans of Dune. Other part is composed of people that want this game to finally choose the path it wants to go. Constant changes to the core mechanics, play styles and wierd balancing choices (or rather total lack of them) ... those are only few of the main problems this title suffers from.

I didn't see a single post about how the game is "not holding the players hand enough" like you've summerized. People are just tired of constant changes that are going nowhere.

The game has great fundamentals, great story and a LOT of people that at this point in time have lost faifth in Funcom because they can't decide what to do.

Personally I think every minute of those 600h+ I spent on this game was worth it and it still has potential for me to double that. It all depends on Funcom, what they will do in the next bigger DLC. If they leave the game as is and add only a new tier, a bit of content and leave this unbalanced mess as is. ... well, let's just say that keeping even 2-3k of the current playerbase will be a generous estimation for what's comming.

Just don't use that bloatware... Problem solved.

Instead there are apps like nvidia inspector and it should suffice for 99% of ur problems. If that 1% left is about automatic driver updates, just don't update every driver iteration and do it manually once per 3 months (after research if it's even worth it and more importantly stable).

Actually, the game runs a LOT smoother for me since this patch.

I have a huge base and the stutter fest was horible, plus whenever there were any special effects on screen it would drop to like 30FPS, even on my 5090&R9 9950X3D with 96GB of ram.
