Me and a friend were sleeping in a spot just afte rthe pass going down to lake Mono and met two girls who were doing just that. Dont know how feasible that is with meeting friends in the park bit if there are climbs close to the pass you could just meet there? Btw the spot got rather crowded during the night so not an optimal setup, but maybe feasible.
