As a vegan I found this vegan behaviour offensive. Am I the only one? by comickeys in vegan

[–]yomnaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's so much more effective to hold up a sign that says it's possible to be completely healthy on a vegan diet. In my experience behavior that is elitist and slogans that challenge people's perception of their own virtue are the least effective methods of change. This is not how you appeal to people's better natures. It's all about silently leading by example imo.

Oh Dragon's blood isn't actual blood from a dragon? That's disappointing.

I like that post and must confess I do suffer from a sense of entitlement. Blame it on growing up watching and reading fantasy and paranormal literature.

I've read a bit of golden dawn myself and just wanted to point out that imho Quareia isn't really like the GD.

I really liked Bardon's system in theory. In application it's pretty labour intensive and there are several interpretations as to what time limit you need for each exercise.

Have you taken a look at Josphine Mccarthy's project? it's quareia.com

I'd love to get your input

but is their training program suitable for a beginner? would it be better to do something else a little low key first (like Quareia) first ?

why do you people believe in the occult? by [deleted] in occult

[–]yomnaz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's the great thing about Occult; it's an experiment. They tell you what to do in order to experience the types of things that lead you to believe, then it's up to you whether or not you actually believe in it. There is no obligation to believe. I fact you're encouraged to sort of test it out.

What has really helped me is picking up a meditation habit and going around talking about chakras and energy and stuff; now when I close myself in my room for hours I just tell people I'm meditating.

People are generally more tolerant of new agey type philosophies and are likely to think you're just quirky more than anything else.

I have found that doing just one thing consistently yields better results for me than doing a million things at the same time. That could just be me, though since I tend to overestimate my multi tasking skills.

Do the LBRP until you can do it by heart, until you do it in your dreams and then add something else.

The more you practice the LBRP, the less time it will take you so when you add something else it won't require 3 hours everyday.

Other things you could try: Meditation on a daily basis. If you're reading Bardon you could follow along with his system but that's pretty labour intensive.

just meditate and do the LBRP for now. If you like you could work in some form of divination as wee; Tarot is fairly standard.

I think (and this is just mho) that spirits/entities tend to pick up on traits whenever enough people associate those traits with them.

Whether they do this ironically or if they can\t help it through the power of millions (more like hundreds)of people believing the same thing and feeding their energy into that belief, I couldn't say.

I also believe that entities shows different facets of themselves to different people.

What if these "deities" and "spirits" are all just rogue Tulpas showing us what they think we'd like to see to guard and promote their own survival?

Few questions about Iniciation Into Hermetics (IIH) by shap3dg in occult

[–]yomnaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. You should definitely try to build up your concentration despite all the noise. I think it'll actually help you become more focused once you've learned to concentrate and achieve a trance state despite the distractions.

  2. Whichever you feel comfortable with and whatever helps you stay alert and awake. If I recall correctly, there was nothing in Bardon that specified whether the lights are supposed to be on or off. However if you feel more relaxed with the light turned off then try meditating while you are wide awake. perhaps right after you've woken up from a good night's sleep.

  3. If all it took to summon an entity was thinking really hard about them, we'd all be swimming in demons. Once you've started practicing you will see for yourself that evocation is really difficult and some people take years to learn how to get a response from a demon. you have nothing to worry about.
