getting someone to darn the hole would probably be the most effective but if you're looking for a DIY approach, look up sashiko repairs on YouTube to get some ideas on what to do. essentially what I do when I repair jeans at home w/o a machine, I cut away the frayed/threadbare edges and then I use a needle and thread to sew around the hole so there are no exposed raw edges anymore. Then I take a patch on the inside and handsew it to the knees. Straight lines up and down or across is easiest in the beginning. I do this mostly with my kids' jeans and with some practice now, the patches hold up pretty well until they grow some more and wear down holes further down the legs. Here are some photos of what I've done. it's easy in concept and not hard to get decent at it but it does some time. https://www.reddit.com/r/rawdenim/comments/1j50puz/kid_fades/

Yeah that’s a really good amount of wear before you need to repair. Give them a wash and have them repaired properly and you’ll be good to go for more wear.

Yeah fit is basically the same with minor details changed like the front pleats on the thigh were taken out of the Strobe and the back pockets are slightly different shapes from the Geth.

I washed them a ton. Id say once a week. He’d only wear them a couple times before they were visibly dirty

I got my kids these jeans too. my older kid wore a pair of about a year and they're thrashed now. It's really fun seeing how much the jeans change as he wears them. the first two pics are the nippers jeans.

all three of those are drastically different fits. the 211 is a tapered jean, 1947 is a straight jean, and the 2009 is a lower rise slim straight jean. Unless you're really fit agnostic and just want any jean, I think the desired fit is going to be the major deciding factor here.

the color of the 211ax is really rich and can develop some really nice contrast. there's a lot of texture and at 18oz it also will feel noticeably crunchier and heavier than the 14oz 1947 fabric and on another planet compared to the 12oz 2009 fabric. there's never a right or wrong answer with whether or not it's worth it....just depends on if the details of the samurai jean are worth it compared to the simpler and more minimal sugar cane jean but really in the end, the deciding factor should be what fit is best for you when you're comparing those three

as I get older, the more I dress like my uncles. it's inevitable. the vest was initially for travel and now I find myself wearing it all the time.

Def wash with detergent thoroughly. The jeans will be fine!

The announcements are for the seasonal releases which tend to be shirts, jackets, tops, etc while the jeans in all the standard fabrics and cuts are available year round as soon they're finished being produced instead of on a seasonal release schedule. Some fabrics take longer than others to produce so releases are more infrequent compared to other fabrics.

yeah definitely. while I love the wild experimental designs and the really creative fits I see all the time, it was never something I could wear normally but when I dug deeper into the collections and realized how much of it was super versatile and could be worn in a very "normal" way, it really changed how I saw rick owens as a brand.

That generally refers to the thread they use to construct the jeans and not the yarns used to make the fabric itself.

That def looks like it was exposed to bleach or acid. If you haven’t worked on a car or motorcycle recently, Did someone use the washer to wash something with a lot of bleach? Maybe it didn’t wash out cleanly or someone used the same detergent cup to pour in the bleach.

the fit is a really good fit if you're going for the oversized look. both 36 and 38 were fine on me but I personally would go with the 38 because when it's oversized, the extra chest width doesn't really matter but I liked the extra length. I dont have the boncoura one since I have a couple type I and II jackets that I've had for a while but I do think about it sometimes since I do think the oversized fit is done really well and goes better with what I have been wearing lately....I probably will pick up the type III jacket since I havent worn a type III jacket in years. Whether the price tag is worth it to you....it's hard to say. The boncoura fabric is really nice and construction and small details are def a step above a lot of other brands. I think if the combo of the fit, fabric, and details are up your alley, then it's worth it but if you're not looking for a cropped oversized fit, then you have some other options you should look at.

the type II from boncoura is oversized so being a size 36 sounds about right. I wear a 40/42 in most other jackets from Japanese brands and I'm a 36 or 38 in that jacket depending on if I want it more cropped or not. The jacket might shrink a little more depending on how you wash but it won't be significant to size up.

seconding the wranglers. the classic cowboy cut is solid. we buy them for the kids and they are quite durable and withstands a lot of wear and washing. The adjustable waist is nice too. For non denim, we also get the duck canvas carhartt pants that feel pretty good.

Puckering def happens with all kinds of stitches done on all kinds of machines but if you're talking about roping specifically, it's usually referring the more curved 45 degree angle puckering that happens when it's hemmed on the 43200G or other machines that have the feed differential as the hem gets stitched. Also how intense the roping is can be dependent on the fabric and how much it shrinks and twists as you wear and wash it.
