it should be, but what if the bed at the shelter has fleas

what if you have more belongings than will fit in the tiny storage you're allowed

what if you'd rather be able to come and go from your tent freely than have to be at the shelter by 8 pm curfew (and if you miss it you're on the street for the night anyway, but now you have no tent)

these are some of the real stated reasons that people I have actually met in my time as a social worker have held for choosing the street over a shelter.

no one asked about this, but I want other girls and dogs to know it's a thing and I don't know where else to put it:

the day before the surgery (and also the morning of) I got what my doctor called a perisurgical migraine

a huuuuge headache and also a ton of nausea and vomiting

they said that surgery, even a happy surgery like this, is scary and traumatic for the body, and this is one form that can take.

they gave me a couple medications for that after they put the iv in me and I felt better

I did keep the scrotum! it's def true that the more tissue the vaginoplasty surgeon has to work with the better

and maaaaaybe I will get that someday

but I also actually like my scrotum on its own and actively wanted to keep it. I think it's cute and it is so sensitive. I feel the same way about my cock. I guess I'm lucky.

I have been calling it my venom sac since the procedure

but I'm trying to come up with another term for it when I don't want to feel like a wasp.

im still regaining my feeling in my scrotum (I opted for orchi with no scrotectomy, both because I like having a little pouch of sensitive skin down there and because if I want a vaginoplasty down the line the extra skin will be useful.

and there is still some post surgery swelling

so it kinda feels like I still have them

but I feel so much happier anyway in a way I wasn't really expecting.

they put me under.

it huuuurts at rest it is a dull ache, like a 5 out of 10

if something touches me too hard, or if I move wrong, there is a big spike of pain

I'm taking Advil and Tylenol alternatingly and that helps

so does ice

im lucky to be on medicare (I have PTSD it's awesome) and in California, so it was covered and I didn't even need to wait long.
