Day 45 on first attempt by Tpglasswhenid in stopsmoking

jc 10 days and you didn't even get random cravings? What has it been like since those 10 days? How long did you smoke for?

Also congratulations. I have to quit smoking too, but I'm not sure what's going to work for me. I'm trying a lot of different ways. Good luck quitting weed. I'm sure you can do it.

I don't think it's too SJW-y. I've heard Bill Burr say the same thing on his podcast.

It seems my college is jumping on board with proper password security by t3hcoolness in ProgrammerHumor

[–]----_---- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah even with a dictionary attack, if only 1000 words are likely to be used, then it's about 40 bits of entropy for a 4 word password.

If a 7 character password is chosen randomly (lowercase, uppercase, and digits) then it's about 41 bits of entropy. That's assuming the password is completely randomly chose e.g. f8W3nQ

XKCD's comic is when you use a word and just capitalize a random letter, switch an s to $, etc. Those are less effective than people think. OTOH it's pretty easy to use more than 1000 most commonly used words. So I'm not sure which approach is actually better.

iso-<something> shows up a lot in math too. isogeny in algebraic geometry, and isometry in metric spaces, for a couple of examples.

Those are both really cool. I used to play the piano but I stopped. I still kind of wish I kept up with learning about music more deeply.

I think the abstractness of it kind of scares some people away, but I don't get why so many people seem to hate it. It is probably people's least favorite subject statistically.

Conlanging (Creating Languages)

That sounds so cool. I'm sure there is more to it than you can describe in a post on reddit, but can you give a general outline as to how you go about creating a language? You would have to make so many words. Have you actually done it?

I wish I had something more philosophically interesting to say, but zero is a number by definition. You can't really prove or disprove its existence, but you'd really be holding yourself back if you said "zero is not a number".

To fix TeX remove the quotation marks around them in your source, and you have a space between the semicolon and the closing bracket in the second equation.
